Yes, I believe he would.

you don't know then how can u say it is a useless pursuit. If u do not benefit from something does not mean that it is useless for others.

Sufi's dance around in circles to get in a trance. A person cannot say it is a useless pursuit. Try to understand the culture and why they do it.

I probably will - if only out of curiosity.
The reason I want people to explain their attitudes towards Gil here is because it seems such a polarizing topic evoking such strong responses from both sides. I am wondering mostly what drives people to have such strong opinions of him.

I know it’s useless to me. I am expressing my own opinion here – not any kind of Absolute Truth. Obviously, it’s not useless to him – otherwise he wouldn’t continue doing it for 15 years. Whether his choice of activity benefits you – only you may know. My sister is a fan of Tiesto, so I don’t discount the inspirational potential of outstretched arms for some people. Peace to you too.

I am glad you brought them up. Dervishes do more than twirling. You don’t see any of them twirl with no break for 15 years, right? Faqirs are holy men, in a sense that they gave up worldly pleasures and dedicated their lives to spiritual studies, meditation and teaching others. To me, it’s not only what’s going inside a person that makes him holy, but how he or she expresses it outwardly. Jeremiah was a holy man. John Baptist was. Maybe even Maccabee brothers and Salah-ad-Din were. Valmiki was. Sai Baba too (revered by Hidus and Muslims alike, by the way). All these people lived righteous lives and left a trace in history (or at least in one life other than their own). That guy with the arm, however learned and enlightened he may be – will he stop by and share his wisdom with me the way fakirs did? Is he going to write a book that will survive and inspire people for thousands of years, like Valmiki did? Will he defend his people’s right to practice their religion the way Maccabees and Saladin did? Will he gather crowds and preach to them, extoling spiritual virtues and condemning vice and corruption, the way Jeremiah and John Baptist did? Will he strive to achieve peace and unity among people of different spiritual paths, the way Sai Baba did? I doubt that.
It’s what a person does (or, at the very least, what he/she says) that I can assess. I cannot know (and therefore cannot value) his relationship with The Supreme. And neither can you, IMHO. Somebody sees a saint in Samadhi – somebody else sees a catatonic patient. Only the person in question here knows the difference. But either case is about as useful to me as the other.

Only because of the way he was presented in the video. He was not introduced as a wandering teacher or a prophet of any sorts. I didn’t hear anything about him working in a hospital alongside Mother Teresa or restoring a worn-down temple. All I heard was that he spent 15 years with his arm in the air. And all I saw was, well, a guy with his arm in the air. If there were more to it, I am sure either Gil or Tina would mention it.
Yes, I may have gotten a different impression if I had spent a month in the same tent with him. But I didn’t. And most likely never will.
P.S. To finish this long OT detour: I am not judging what he does or any reasons/beliefs that make him do it. I will not judge you if you find some inspiration or lesson in what he does. As long as you don’t judge me for not being inspired (or even impressed) by all this. See, tolerance is a two-way street. Or at least it should be.
P.P.S. So, how 'bout them Gil's sets?

Thank you for the kind words Maine Coon. I wish u well.
His sets, he is a Dj, plays good music (If u r into the music he plays). Regarding experience, it is what u make of it. For me people around me contribute a lot to my experience. A freaking good stomp with your lungs full of charas mmmmmmmmm Mama! Mia! Can't describe in words. I love a good Trance Dance experience.
See u on the dance floor sometime coon. Peace
P.S - Gil plays in Portland every year. The guys in Portland they organize it very well. A lot friends drive from Vancouver to Portland and they swear by it. It should be a good experience. If u get chance check it out.

One should notice that nobodys is talking , just people happily dancing , that's how i remember every partie with him ,i believe that long sets can take u on a really high experience.Like the man says , first u don't know the people , then they start to know you and vice versa and then BOOM!(simply put)
Like the man says , first u don't know the people , then they start to know you and vice versa and then BOOM!(simply put)
Oh my! is this a cue to speak music? Whats he mean by knowing the people, Vice versa, are you serious? Me know many peeps who have been to many shows and have only gotten a smile and they still don't know him nor does he know them..Do you know what its like to refuse people the right to meet him? do you know what its like to tell them no? It's a rock and hard place, hell, Gil doesn't even know... not now, later..
Allow me to to clear things or even complicate things..
My first steps to this thread was to use rule number 2 in regards to speaking music, me has the right to refuse to give other peeps reason or explanations for my behavior but then i thought, brainlizzard, fux it!!!
Wash on, wash off.. then wipe your poop shoot..
In the USA one of Gil's unexpected issue is the crew, Dyalian is crew master for the West coast, sorry for using Gilburt as the backboard to speak about him as well, the artist with the ego syndrome from hell, not space.. Maybe Gil molded him maybe he didn't but one thing for sure, this guy gives Gil a horrible reflection..
"You've got a lot of choices. If getting out of bed in the morning is a chore and you're not smiling on a regular basis, try another choice"
Take a bite at your lizzard, I'm gonna speak the truth about everything, I'm 7 post ahead, its time the peeps know the truth behind the Gil mirror.. There will be no true trance dance evolution per the experience if we don't address the ranks for our future dancing.. The torch will exchange hand one day, lets get it right without all the ego, right Dylan?
Power/Transformation
The blue magnetic vs. the red electric, a myth in fear which drives male and female apart, plus negative within the limbic system, the end of duality, a quantum field that allows us to go into the quantum space where we can create anything that our intentions desire, no?
Once the music is on Gil is a bottle of joy, this man is smiles ear to ear.. the vibration of the crowd is about the music hence why your lizzard booked Gil in the first place.. Many people book Gil for the image...
More later but i must go cook some bacon...
We consume dualistic, thoughts as food.. We purify the mental electron and our poles, the Earth is our mother..
Where a willingness to change will have the biggest impact on your life and will result in a realization of fearlessness.

you know for all the fuss about Goa Gil not mixing, I saw DJ Emok a year ago, and it just sounded like he faded outro to intro for EVERY track!
There was 0% beat matching.
i mean seriously, at least Goa Gil attempts to do something more than this.
I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!
