@ansolas about the bass, its nice sounding befor the kick and gallop.///.///.///.///....
sounds hollow and lacking power when it rolls into 7min... "imo" of taste
i want to hear a combination with just a kick and VB1..... only processing aloud is eq... no saturation, no multiband comps/distortion....
a limter on the master is fine... go for it |

@Freesbi...... thats entirely my point, there isnt enough to it to sculpt !!!!!! i just cannot for the life of me get my head around why use something so basic when theres soooo much out there... just , .. whyyy? and why do u persist on defending it! why dont you make ME one from it and prove it with actions rather than paragraphs of txt that's not getting you or me no where |

I.m.o. VB1 has something pure about it, and takes quite some skill and post-processing to get a really good sound from. So I understand some of its appeal. I mostly end up taking a faster road to my bassline using Sylenth (from scratch) or - even faster - Alien 303 (tweaking presets). |

VB 1 was good 10 years ago, not really doing the job for the modern clicky psybass nowadays..
Just got a sampled ESM from logic and must say that this is one of the best basses i'v have heard for psytrance, almost get me to consider too get logic only for that synth |

I do have Logic, ES-1, ES-M are older then VB-1 even. And have been used presumably as many times as VB-1, so what makes you confident one couldn't just say the same thing about them?
plus, this isn't a topic about the best bass machine, or is it? there's to much of that flying around. I think it's worth pointing out that it's up to the producer to use whatever he likes, Logic's own instruments have their own set of peculiarities that can, have been, and will continue to be used a lot for psytrance bass and more.
ES-M has to be sampled even if you have Logic btw. It doesn't have phase retrig option, but yeah, can deliver good sounding bass for sure!
all of these can! including VB-1!

if you ask me, I think all of these should be praised for the unique qualities present on their raw sound that have proven entirely suitable for psy bass more then anything else I can think of, and are praised by us more so then producers of other genres. even though this is software, we're talking real classic sounds here. no problem with "it was good 10 years ago" kind of thing, that's why I mentioned TB 303, xoxbox still sells every day and look at what Roland's been doing lately... I mean, go ahead and use the more modern and ultra flexible synthesizers if you wish, but be aware that psy bass, the regular psy bass sound hasn't changed much since those times to these days. Search around, I've started a thread precisely about that some time ago, with not so much enthusiasm shown by menbers here, so guess what... If what you're looking for is the formulaic psy bass patch, this machines can, have, and will continue to deliver in the future. I mean, since this is behind most of the basses we've heard on so many releases over the years, I don't see how this is even debatable, tbh, and surely think it's more down to personal taste and experience more so then anything else.
Logic's instruments, VB-1 and many others could all fit inside a "psy trance producer's choice" package if you ask me.

dude, there's a .zip link in there that should allow you download it just by clicking on it! the previous ones require something like quicktime player to be able to play it, it's a normal .wav file. think it should download by right clicking and downloading from the link itself, no? but the zip file should just download. |

ok, just try and remember we're using written word here. and I'm just making a point, not trying to school anyone. I think it's a valid point and one that's a no brainer. it has worked and continues to do so on a ton of music. what else can I say? my dad's car isn't all that special btw. he's not really into cars much XD

jokin aside, as it really dont matter a great deal, erm, well its sounds... usable, but not punchy, not punchy because its not thick rich in filters, which is where alot of the body and warmth come from no mo? |
