Glenboy, I think you will find it is also professional to keep a verbal contract and in English Law it would be binding. I am sure Greg, who is a very respectable person had worked on such a contract, which from what I am reading was breached by the so called management of John 00 Flemming.

And that my friend is not a professional management.

I will not be buying the Euphoria album that's for sure, despite the points made above.

Look forward to a transient release!

Unfortunately that's where things fall down, nothing was verbally agreed; not a percentage deal, what tracks, etc etc. Just a chat with John who said he'd be happy to release on Transient. Now I hope you begin to understand why everyone was so confused! John still loves the Transient label and artist, this is getting blown out of preparation

ok I'm not going to cut and paste every e-mail, as some of it is figures and deals that I do with my agents but I have contacted John's NEW management with proposals and offers for the album. I also had close contact with John up until 2 weeks ago, when he rang me to confirm 100% that Transient would release 00.db, this to me glen, even in a 'professional' way is a deal. I also said to John in that conversation that it would be good to get the contracts drawn up, so I will ring his management tomorrow, he said no because they are in medim, so I asked him to get them to ring me when they get back. No call. John sent me a spec of how he wanted the artwork to look like so I got on to my guy and he worked on it, then sent john the first drafts so he could approve...no reply..... then I sent him the second draft..... no reply, I asked him to get in touch so my guy new if he was on the right track.....no reply, then I was offered a great deal for an advert in DJ mag and trackitdown offered me a marketing fee towards this but I neded to know within 4 days. I mailed john maybe 3 times, mailed him maybe 10 times and no reply. 1 day before the deadline I get a one sentence e-amil from his management (obviously back from medim, although I had no idea as no one had conatcted me) please stop texting and e-mailing John, you have to deal with us now. Not even a phone call, this is the type of reception I received fom these people, one line, cold and uninterested, not really the way to build relationships with the label of your artist. This rang alarms bells, maybe I was wrong and shouldn't have been worried but after months of close contact with John and then this, things seemed strange. So I rang the management, who proceeded to tell me that I was completely wrong in thinking that John was releasing on Transient and they had not made a decision on who was releasing it, but if I sent them a proposal they would consider it...... offer number 2, the same as before, no response, even though I old them I needed to know by the end of the day so I had time to pull the ad in DJ( I wouldn't put out an ad or release schedule without confirmation, but I guess you get told only so much Glenn) anyway I then e-mailed them again....... as they did not respond, please can you give me a yes or no!! again one line sentence. We don't know who will be releasing the album so pull it.
I was so pissed off that suddenly an album that was 100% on Transient according to John was suddenly not even after all the time and money I had put into it, on John's word, which the way you put it is worth nothing, to me it's everything.

I then wrote to john and his management expressing my disbelief and asked them to come clean about shopping the album around, his management replied confirming that yes, since the success and media hype of John's album, they will be looking for other deals( as well as Transient)....and......you guessed it no reply from John.

So I wrote to them both telling them exactly how pissed I was with the way they had worked(always under this professional guise, this seems to be the easy way to justify doing what ever you want, and backing down from a verbal contract, which I believe it legally binding..but lol). And again......no response........

So as a totally unprofessional I have posted my annoyance publicly,

Mybe you have no idea what been happening, but this is a small scene with small amounts of money, so why would Sasha's/Carl Cox blabla...management want to go with a small label that's lucky to sell 1000 copies.... answer they don't....... so they will say anything to get out of it....

Glenn unfortunately you are just a small cog in a well oiled machine

Hope you and your family are well, I just had a new arrival.... Peppa...she is amazing, although I am living on no sleep...

If Greg is correct then I'm shocked how little professionalism there is in the scene.

*sigh*

Drama aside, the CD has some sick tracks on it. Worth checking out in my opinion. Plus, I'd love to hear what you guys think of the 2 tracks I have on there.

hey
sorry to the artists on this comp, I don't think the comp is bad, infact john has picked a really strong line up for it, and I'm sorry for detracting from your success in getting on a MOS comp....I was so happy for Human blue that he got chosen... I just used this thread to get my point accross as I was not getting any joy in private e-mails....etc...

I'm trying to sort things out with John now privately and hope that there is not more silly stuff to follow.... It was wrong but at least I am now having communications with them..... again sorry ovnimoon and jayselway, there is a reason why john put you on the comp, and that is because your music is world class.... hopefully this will be the last from me on this thread

all the best

j00f has never been a "psy trance" dj, he plays some more goa and psy style tunes in his sets although the last couple of years he has played a lot more. also this release is coming out on ministry of sound. so to all those chin stroking "underground" psy trance fans, what did you expect? commercial means different things in different places so maybe in israel where astral projection may be a household name you might think this is cheesy crap and fine. here in australia at least this is nowhere near commercial "top 40" or whatever stuff but having this on ministry of sound and as a euphoria release means more people might start to like it and then after that they might find some great stuff that you would think is "underground". even if you do think that this is cheesy crap there are still some great tracks on here that can't be called commercial at all. im really looking forward to this since im a huge j00f fan and even though there are some songs on here i wont like much i think overall it should be a great package!

greg: looks like there have been some breakdowns in communication which really sucks but also at the same time at least according to john's diary entry for jan this year the album is getting about 3 releases or something. this is a mix cd with tracks from the album to include with the other discs, just because this disc is included doesn't mean that the album is not getting released at all on transient. there could still be hope

anyway those are my thoughts

...?!? I cannot believe the bitchin' and the toxic air that surrounds the release of Psytrance Euphoria.
In all respect Greg - whatever happenend, the whole thing reads as if all involved had an A plus communication breakdown.
John Fleming couldn't be a cunt even if he tried hard...and you are not much better.
C'mon fellas!...shake hands, say sorry for the bullshit and keep working together on the future good for our beloved genre.
I personally thought 00.db would be a JOOF release and hearing that John had in mind Transient instead shows that he must like you and your label a lot. As Philby said, John must have meant to release the unmixed artist album under Transient...and I bet that will eventually be the case.
peace&love to you, Brothers!

John and I had a massive punch up outside Ministry last night, then he stole my car and my wife.....

No just joking(john asked me to say it), we have indeed kissed and made up, and both agreed there was a very huge communication break down, and will not happen again.

This fight wasn't about ministry, as Transient was always going to release an unmixed version with 4 new tracks that don't appear on the MOS album....but anyway, as I said to john, I was wrong to do what I did but felt I had no where else to turn.

We are not sure what will happen now, maybe we have both gone to far down separate roads, or maybe we will get back on track, it's out our both our hands, and down to his management, but either way it will be a great album, and Transient( and myself) have had our little turn of public ''debates'' and will fully support it.....

...that is great news indeed!
We grew up with the old Transient as the respected label and then we heard John perform at Melbourne about a year before Whitelabel Republic and everything fitted nicely in place. Further, Transient undergone its well deserved revival and the Label appears to be right on par once again. Ultimately, John breaks tru the egg shell and becomes something like the global name behind progressive Psy-Trance. Well, the word is out now definately and because of MOS Psy-Trance Euphoria, a hell of a lot more individuals globally will embrace our beloved genre which will result in a Heaven&Hell kinda situation, I guess. Commercialism and Overexposure aside, people like you and John and others who are in a manner of speech entrusted to cut a path through the jungle cannot possibly turn their back on the task at hand and even if the money clouds the view, the FORCE that moves our hearts and emotions before anything else is incorruptable. So, please keep chipping away from the block, bit after bit and never forget your roots...           Global Dance Underground Ambassador
