Its quite possible the music featured on kali yug chosen by gil was done so keeping in mind that it should be representation of the troubled times we live in and goa gil had set him self out to mix them in a way that we feel the essence of the pathetic chaos ,lack of clarity, strife and discord the world has descended into. A shit set of tracks mixed in a shitty way ending in the shittiest way possible; an apt testimony of the shit times we currently live in

All in all a purpose that seems well achieved

lets give him that.

Lets all start listening to shit music then, and keep longing for bad trips that are like a dark blanket, covering up any sparkle of color in our troubled minds.
These represent the bad times that we live in right? God forbid, lets not listen to anything good, cause that could make this shitty world we live in, a better place...

You sound like the same people who called rock music evil at first because it was loud and extremely different from the norm.

Don't you remember a lot of the music from the hippy psy era was protest music about the bad things happening in the world?

Just because you don't like a certain style of music or the way itihas been mixed does not make it "shit".

I can't stand full on, so I simply do not listen to any of it and I'm happy.

Not a difficult choice to make.

I like prog as well as dark psy so I'm happy with a bit of the dark & a bit of the lighter side in my music listening, and also ambient as well.

People really need to get over this anti-dark pay thing big time!           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

I did not call it evil, I did not grow up in the '60s, and I have been lucky enough to enjoy the luxury of buying lots of music from a really young age, thus educating my self, musically at least. I like a lot of different stuff, I enjoy John Coltrane's "Blue Train". I also enjoy his "Ascescion" LP, music that a lot of Jazz enthusiasts branded as evil/mad noise and ultimately John's surrender to his own madness after his trip to India. It has music with no chord progression, free blown Jazz. Check it out to understand the true meaning of difference, if you haven't.

Of course I do, here's one of my favoruurites

sounds beautiful, innit. The people that make music to express dark times, should have paid more attention to the people that did decades before them adn did it well

I can appreciate things in a lot of music I don't like. There are a lot of things that have been done in a deliberate distasteful manner, something like music irony. Checking the samples on them tunes, the irony definitely missed me. It sounds shit to me, yet we agree that it does not make them tunes shit for everybody.

Why do you post in a review about a style of music you repeatedly pay out on?

Not just this thread but in General Trance...

Do you own this? Or did you listen to 4 minute samples that aren't even mixed and judge your views on Gil by what others say?

I downloaded your tunes and quiet like them, so thanks for them btw Not what I love, but I respect the effort you put into the musi and would never call another artists work shit.

Cheers           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

I do like a lot of night music, hence why I have an opinion in the subject, and I've seen Gill play out quite a few times, hence my post.
Piss taking aside, the old geezer was polite.
And if someone that puts their music out is not ready to hear some people say its shit, then they've got issues.
Its a free forum mate and if there is something I like, I'll say it, if there is something I don't, I'll say it.
Simple as that.

Have a nice day.

ne he just doesn't mix in the way everybody else does... have seen him mix in the 90's twice and post 2000 and loved every time... he makes more of a journey than most standard dj's!           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

Think you totally missed the point, dude.why would anyone like to listen to shit music unless you're a death metal fan (sorry whoever) All i was trying to say is the music featured here (which is pretty mediocre by dark standards and bad mixing making it even worse) goes well with the title of the cd. thats all

i like the mix in this compilation between the tracks, is not standart beatmatch, but beatmatch is boring in trance
p.s. try to beatmatch 170 bpm tracks           VA - Spiritual Science out now!

@demoniac insomniac

think before you post: there is a whole genre called drum'n'bass at 170-180 bpm with a lot of excellent beatmatchers (Friction, Andy C., Dieselboy and many more). so i don't really think it's a question of speed whether you can beatmatch or not.

a totally other subject is the question how important beatmatching is compared to storytelling in psytrance. my opinion is that storytelling is more important but the better the beatmatching the more hypnotic it can get. that's why a lot of people use ableton nowadays.

Opinion: Beat matching is not boring in trance.

Fact: Its much easier to keep a mix of a tune at 170BPM than at 90BPM.

i agree with you about the story telling, and i like how gil switch between tracks, is like boom another story, and he sets the frequincies and he knows when is the moment for doing this, same style like all the mixes so far from him...
yeah hypnotic, but sometimes in fullon u hear 3 minutes of mixing between the tracks, this annoys me and is boring it doesnt put you in a diffrent level.
but this is just my taste...

VA - Spiritual Science out now!
