this album has got me wildly dancing around my apartment on more than one occasion, and throwing my hands in the air while driving - and not every CD does that very nice.

did anyone notice that the last minute of the peyote sound system tracks sound just like a part of
shulman-random lifelines?

Liquid Stranger on the Run is a marvellous track, with a Jamaican feel that puts you in the mood for some serious relaxing. The rest of the album is also very good, with no bad tracks, but I felt I had to stand that one out.

Again I don't belive the hype...

Interchill have been releasing so-so cds since Talisman in my opinion with the exception of Kaya Project albums. There are always a few nice tracks, sometime even really good ones and the rest is mediocre and kinda bores me, even if never real bad or offensive. It seems they kinda lost the plot lately.

After being disappointed buying Octave Lounge 2, I took care to listen well before deciding about this one. This CD just didn't do it to me at all. Eat Static is nice but nothing I haven't heard before. Gaudi & Tripswitch is nice. Kaya Project with not the best of his album (which I have anyway and it fits better there). Then it just gets... well.. weird, but not the good kind of weird. Just not interesting enough for me and not very innovating though they're trying. Maybe it's also the flow that is just not there. Exception is the great Lunchbox tune that sent me ordering their CD- should arrive soon.

Still waiting for once my favorite chill label to find the path again.

This is one of those releases i put into the deck and it gets stuck there.
I first heard it flying to a gig
and played the first track three times over before I got any further...
There are only one or two tracks that don't grab me so much... but thats only a matter of taste...
Wicked sounds !

Bom*shankar I think you're a little bit harsh here aren't you ?

Until now I was mostly agreed with your posts on the forum but here it's not the case. You're surely right when you say that not all the tracks are totally groundbreaking.. But the purchase of the CD is also surely not a waste of money..

Eat Static's being played loud, even if not "wow, unique, never heard before" (hehe) is such a great moment to spend.. Really really fat and it does it nice..

Then I'm with Jingabé, Liquid Stranger On The Run is smashing, but doesn't set me into the mood for "relaxing" but more "warming-up" hehe.. the rhythmics are great, the trumpets perfect, the vocals lay-out deserves 10 points, and so on.. Boom tcha ka la kaaa track in my humble opinion !

I also dig a lot the Peyote Sound System one.. The loops in it are quite hypnotic and give a superb flavour to this piece of "psychedelic dub" like only a few artists are making nowadays.. Great work !!

And the Erik the Viking vs Odo is just beautiful.. Superb build-up, ok ok Bom*shankar again not something absolutely original.. But really really enjoyable.. I just love that loop built with these kind of whistles.. And the meeting of mother Africa and Sister India cannot get "out of fashion" (clumsy translation, maybe)..

Voilà voilà.. Sorry not to write a complete review of it, but it's definitaly a record that I strongly recommend..

Have to agree with Bom*shankar,
it simply ain't my style... too wierd dub for me - not getting it.
Though the 3-4 first tracks of this cd are amazing, especially 'Subdown'.

people either love it or could care less...not much middle ground in the reactions i've heard.

we got the same reaction from artists when i tried to explain the idea of psy-dancehall... some people saw right away what i was on about, others scratched their heads and wondered what i was on about...

either way - this is an album that nick and i compiled primarily to please ourselves... i could live on a diet of wierd dub, cold beer and curry...

still - with each release we never get consensus about what is best... which means ignoring both the positive and negative is probably smartest

as mr bom shankar says - never believe the hype;

because hype is a substitute for quality

Found my old review which was not posted
anywhere else before, so here it is:

This is one of the best compilations ever, IMHO. It’s released by Iterchill Records, famous one for me.. Adham Shaikh, Kaya Project, Ekko, Gaudi have tracks and albums released here and only this shows high quality.

You know what is it like? Like something that changes the world, at least for the people who listen to it. Just imagine, when many people are introduced to this compilation, how the universe and reality are affected. Every track are fantastic. They are not some kind of good, or so-so, or even very great! Every track are at least masterpiece and unique masterpiece.
1. Eat Static - UFO Over Trenchtown
Everything starts from the beginning (So strange, right?). Who thought Eat Static could make only some great Goa, Psy or even Break (remember Crash and Burn, 2000?) music, were totally wrong. What is the connection between Reggae and UFO? I know there are many common issues, but just try to express it better then Eat Static! “UFO Over Trenchtown” starts to prepare you for the trip, like some marijuana in the very beginning. You are already on so let’s go now…

2. Gaudi vs. Tripswitch – Subdown
These two artists are fantastic separately and just imagine what they could do together. The result is that you are already high and starting to notice some strange things. You know how it is (do you?).. it’s like you speak, speak, speak, speak and suddenly you realize everybody’s silent.. what was that?.. who said.. something appears for a second.. ah.. where.. did you do that? What? Wait.. OMG!! But still you are human, just high, but everything is waiting for you! When the song going silent in the end you know it will happen.. coming, near..

3. Kaya Project - Raag To Ragga
And it came!! This sound, is it holophonic or anything makes you understand where you are. Sure, peak is not here yet but this is the moment when there’s no way back. Now you cannot even sleep if you want, because you are not alone and “you” is not controller by “you”. You are woman, who sings in your somewhere. Drums are played, sitars are weeping, polyphonic songs are being sang and ninjas are flying.. in your head! And the violin! In short, if you have any negative feeling and had, or will have, you better leave everything there, while you can still understand ordinary world and still can hear violin sounds. If not you may be frightened such that smell shit all the time. Your shit!

4. Alex Theory - Voodoo Dub
Haha, you thought you are taken to mental hospital? No, dear! It was the first wave only, so now have a little rest. No grass any more, no water but feel the lightness, understand that the best you can do is to be kind and positive. If you cannot, listen to this little track, feel better and follow me. Let that woman sing, she’s so nice.

5. Liquid Stranger - Liquid Stranger On The Run (7:31)
Look! Did you think there was only chilly or Reggae? EVERYTHING TOGETHER! Hush, wait.. what is this sound? It’s shit, f@#k me. Buhahaha! Looks like that woman is a man, gay and not in your head but he’s not in this reality at all, hah. What the hell, do you want reality and mummy? Red Pill you punk!

6. Legion Of Green Men - Blowbaq
You are lucky it was Cubensis and only 2 grams, or if it have been Mexicana 3-4 grams you would not have been such “normally”! If you wonder how you would feel with that, listen to Ambient Systems volumes better. But before let this strange sounds pet your ears, come here, look outside. What color is it? Green? What door, are you sick? This creepy sound is clock ticking, of your biological clock. Did you think it was only hormones, neurons and enzymes? NO! There’s real clock in your head with arrows that scratch you brain curves. So this was the sound. But it’s not showing correct time. Don’t worry; there green men will correct it, or whole legion of green men! That’s ok. Slightly left. Stop, he may die. That’s it!

7. Eiji - Digimunk
Now, with correct time you understand how the universe looks like, but even this is not the most important. I mean when you maybe know something, maybe not, or both. And this knowledge has colors and you can touch it. Try out hard, maybe you can recall. Ah, not hard, but softly, calm down, breath calmly. Go over Makyo, watch Dakini and THAT IS IT! Now you know why you have done this

8. Peyote Sound System - Aqua Dub (6:38)
So, when everything is changed and now we know what and how, let’s taste sweat of everything. The peak has already gone and you know, right now you can’t go back to it! It exists only in the past and only memories remain. By the way, have you noticed you’ve been walking on the wall for quite long time? And what color is your favorite pattern? Blue? Let it be blue. Now when you know great secret let it be any color you want. Mescalito has different view about this issue, but let’s don’t pay attention to him this time.

9. Mauxuam - Ulezak (8:37)
You are still there, but minute by minute you are noticing reality pressing you weak perception. Slowly you are coming back to your body, but no! Let’s sit down and listen to the music it will tack you back. Now you understand what you were and that you won’t be the same anymore and that the point is quite different then you thought it is.

10. Erik The Viking vs. Odo - It's Not A Buddha (7:42)
No, this is not a Buddha for sure! Buddha??! Have you recalled? Flashbacks will be part of your life from now And when you think you understood and remember everything, it’s not like that. O, now stop trying. Even though hangover (or what it is called here) is starting, 5 hours passed and not dance will be great activity. Let’s stop thinking, maybe we will go back for several minutes. Is this man or woman? Who cares, fantastic rhythm!

11. Lunchbox - Jellyfish Roll
Is it Dutch, Danish, Norwegian?.. What the sense? It’s Georgia, do you believe?! Fantastic, but now we are back. It’s really difficult to get back to the flesh but not to the club asap, to stop thinking and hide in the dance, let brain rest and let the body to be tired, off and sleep. We have a fight ahead. Fight for the sleep! We have to defeat light! Can have more grass, maybe XTZ but.. Jah will help anyway!

Welcome back!
