The 3rd installment of the Kamaflage series is finally upon us, and it was well worth the wait. I was a huge fan of the first 2 Kamaflage comps, and this one easily tops both of those. With a good mixture of previously unreleased and vinyl-only tracks, as well as an impressive list of names in both house and psy circles, this one is sure to be a blaster on any clubfloor.

01. Go! Dimaggio - Nightshifter (Joe Shack Dub Mix)
02. Electric Tease - Feel the Funk (Saeed & Palash Remix)
03. Richard K - Rhythm Inside
04. Go! Dimaggio - Pipeline
05. Kooler - Freefall
06. Aircrash Bureau - Power Surpassed
07. Triple-X - Come Closer (Harry Peat Remix)
08. Shakta - Wax Off (Deep 130 Mix)
09. Pete Lazonby - Everything is Burning

The CD starts off with the minimal funk of "Nightshifter" - nice bouncey bassline, light atmospheres, and an unmistakable house groove. Good early-evening or late-morning chilled-out groover. Next up is the combo of Electric Tease remixed by house stars Saeed & Palash. Once again, light feel, groovy bass, and heavy on the percussion. Richard K's "Rhythm Inside" kicks up the intensity a bit with a more full and trancey feel. The chord progression are slightly on the cheese side for me, but the interplay of the low-end groove with the samples and subtle melodies is excellent, giving an overall catchy track. Next track by Go! Dimaggio, "Pipeline" is a nice chilled-out tech-house piece. Somewhat boring listened straight through, but will work very nicely in the mix.

Next up is the the money track for this comp -the wonderfully sublime "Freefall" by Kooler (aka Seb Mullaert). If you are a fan of Seb & Marcus' more housey output as Minilogue, you will love this track. Similar feel, just more stripped down, more tribal, and sexy as hell. Sparse synths & samples float over a plodding percussive low end with an almost Shpongle-esque vocal occasionally popping in for a visit. Words do this track no justice, you have to hear it for yourself. Put simply, fucking brilliant.

WE WANT KOOLER ALBUM!!!

Back to the review......

Next track is by Aircrash Bureau - slow, housey groover. Nothing special, but could still find a spot in a trippy after-hour set. Healey & Kegg provide the next track, the superbly sexy "Come Closer" by Triple-X. The Harry Peat Remix here has a full sound to it, heavy on the groove, with the dirty spoken sample drifting in and out ("Do you like it? Don't fight it. Come closer"). The Deep 130 mix of Shakta's "Wax Off" is up next, presenting a definite departure from the style we usually hear from Seb Taylor. Deep, darkish, atmospheric, funky house - Shakta-style. Closing the CD is house veteran Pete Lazonby's "Everything is Burning". Driving, tech-industrial feeling atmospheric track - I am personally partial to the Richard K remix on the vinyl, but this is a nice one as well.

Overall, this is one helluva comp. No bad tracks whatsover, 3 or 4 really good tracks, and one ("Freefall") that is sure to become a classic. The only downside is that most of the CD was previously released on vinyl, but it does serve as a nice way to catch up on missed releases, or a way for CDJs to have these in high quality. I won't complain too much. Kamaflage has outdone themselves on this one and is sure to have left a lot of people eagerly waiting for more.

9/10

PS HURRY UP AND GIVE US THE KOOLER ALBUM!!

well, its a best of Kamaflage saga indeed.
kick off with sexy deep house tune, evolve to massive feel de funk that good both for solid mature club goer and freakhead as well, then a rhythm inside that somehow mastered on low level and have 0 dancefloor functionality but very pleasere to listen to, then we go to pipeline that is a classic house atmosphere on a tech side, i like this tune alot!! finaly its a time for a kooler track that is not less than my monthy ass shaker for sure!!! aicrash bureau present not good tune at all and triple-x come at right time to rescue, great great uk stuff. shakta too dark for me but somehow nice and closer track is wonderfull.

a realese of the month for me!!           Believe your soul !

I took me a while to get into this one ... the first and second edition were really my favourite 'smooth sunny groovers' .. now Kamaflage delivers us something new , a special release with two amazing tracks you really have to listen to

my favourites are

Richard K - Rhythm Inside (deep emotional synthlines , a subtle psychedelic touch and most important a sexy groove to shake on ... all the ingredients for a tasty and fresh tune )

Kooler - Freefall (a tribal stomper , a shaman would place this track in his top 10 at number one ' most magical drumloop to get into trance ever' )

other tracks I intend to like are Aurcrash Bureau - Power Surpassed (give me a similar feeling like Digby & Oliver - Human on Baluns 'Otherwise' did .. slow vibrating and mystical waves ... but their new 'Dusk Rider and H' style is much better.
Triple-X - Come Closer (Harry peat rmx) also grapped my attention , catchy ... yeah I like it ! and I don't faith it

the best release of the month is for sure Alfa Aroma ... just listen to 'Popmode' and 'Superfinger' .. XV with style

you must be kidding .. I found it to be very dance-friendly .. kind of warm up , an uplifting shaker to get into the smooth mood ... at least I would be shaking on the dancefloor

Yep, a solid release by the Dragonfly sublabel. My personal highlights are Koolers "Freefall", and Richard Keggs beautiful "Rhythm Inside".

If you want to buy a good friend (or yourself) a housy compilation for christmas, this should be it

And kind of surprise too! Koller track is really well done! Extremely Tasty!
