Dear friends,
A good DJ is one that makes me dance and tells me a story- all the rest is just talking with words- and has nothing to do with the parties.
I know, I'm the dancer!!!

OK Y`all. i bet a lot of u will be angry about
so don`t take it personal i don`t mean to hurt no one.
but the words should be spoken:
since i am an outsider to the trance culture (i still know it good enough):
most electronic generes have grown with the concept of dj who beatMIX -beat mix is an art and it actually improve the tracks if u do it well.
i can`t understand what is so special playing outta DATS or MD`s (as i see anyone can do it!).
a REAL GOOD dj should know how to BEATMIX and have a very good taste and knowlege in the history of his generes.
as i am a dj too i was in a state of shock to hear so many local dj who didn`t even practice one day on normal beatmix.- as i see it they sound bad.(with the story or without!)
Trance is Plaine 4 on the floor its easy to mix and with CdJ all the people who r not beatmixing r just lazy.

Hey Mo Amar,

I tend to agree with all u say boy.. ;-)

BUT.................................>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

There is a small but to it because there are genres in trance which are not quite mixeable ( or maybe I'll say it - it is better not to mix 'em coz they are too full with lines ) One of the differences between Trance and other genres of electro ( till the Swedes has shown ) is the heeps of layers and such. I, myslef sometimes prefer to listen to these trax only 'breakmixed' and not one on top of the other. Secondly - it's new era today >>> every one has a CDJ. But only a couple of years ago Trance, as a culture of forests and god forsaken little holes ( beautiful holes indeed ), didn't supply it's DJ's with CDJ's or turntables and they played DAT's.
Most, if not ALL the greatest parties I had the pleasure to share at my time were played from DAT's or Mini's and well, I have to say ( and I can be critical as hell sometimes ) I had a ball.
This is in the ROOT u have to search Trance doesnt = Tekno or other more industrial kind of 4*4 based music, it's more free flowing and well - those DJ's that played DAT at the time and some of them do it till today also mixed very well indeed.

TODAY ( and here I agree with u Kebab ) ppl tend to get lazy and since God is a DJ and every one can be a DJ so every one is GOD and there fore no need for practice - and yes, there are some lazy DJ's and I think it's wrong. But I do think u should check this ANTI DAT thing again.. In most of the cases u will b right -but in some u should look at it again..

Yo ppl lets chill with this topic as in who is playing off what devices and what style of mixing to implement. Let the ppl on the floor dictate the vibes. The rest doesnt need any communication.
God is the DJ, and everybody is god:)!
Keep dancing,
Chaitu

I'm collecting unreleaseds and yes most of them suxx bigtime. BUT!! There are some gems as well!! Why isn't a label who rls Etnica - Rotating Fields??? It's one of their best tracks ever!
Some people trade unrlseds and play just them are snob. And the other thing is with unrlseds that You can get them months before they rlsed. So as a DJ You can play the freshest sounds.
Tell me Your opinion about that...

boris i like what u do alot along a set i agree it's much harder than playing with mini or dat ,but
not always it's sounds good
i think that in trance u should let the track speak ,doing crossover from track to track back & forward doesnt sounds that good in many cases

anyway nadi's sets sounds very special for a lot of ppl (including me ,in good day of nadi .:)
& the story is as much important as the beatmatching
2 last word for u boris hacharshuf - dai lakibush:)
nadi i hope u r having fun in italy :) )

If you want to be a good Dj you have to give to the people stuff that they havent heard before.Unreleased tracks are not always trush as many say,in fact some of them are really awesome tracks.Unreleased is not only a mixed track.Stop the Dat Mafia and keep the nice stuff for the nice people who know what they listen.

hi mike i sont agree with u entiarly i agree that some new tracks u havent heard before should b there but there is a dj in the booth and a dj is an artist to and u come to listen to HIM to not just  new music and agood dj is dj that gives agood set and agood set is not just playing tracks but mixing and thats is the art and that whats makes adj unique other wise its just playing music and the unrealesed scene is acover for not mixing its like well i cant mix but ihave two hours of music u never heard before well thats nice but where is the dj in all that where is the feel the dj puts into his set with the mix he does holding tracks together just as the artist that created te track didnt just put the kick and said thats enough for dancing u got the beat who needs the rest

my 5 cents:
up till recently i played MDs. i beatmixed as much as possible and enjoyed the ease with which i could get more new music.
I switched to CDs. got a burner, filled a case with CDs and I dont want to look back. CDJs r so much more fun! beatmatching so much easier and the sound so much better!
but: I value the time i did with MD. it was very good practice and now i find things easier to do cuz it was so much harder b4.
and btw - one of my most fun sets (if u can call it a set) was from cassetes...
so whats my point? that the better the media, the more options u have but each has his benefits. so give it a rest.

I agree with Mascalita, i think that building the set is very important, maybe even more important than mixing.
The DJ should know how to get his crowd in the right mood, and he does it by building the set properly.:)

Shanti I'm sorry but I think that MD's are much easier to play then CD's or 12" on MD you just find the tune you want, wait till the previous one has almost ended and then push play, no beatmatching, no mix to keep straight no nothing.
plain easy.
