Anyone have any info on taking the local bus and ferry? I've taken the festival shuttle operated by Orient from the Airport in Salvador in the past, but I'll be arriving early this year (before the festival shuttles starts operating), so I'm trying to figure out how to buy tickets for the ferry in advance and which local bus to take from the other side of the ferry to the festival location.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! |

Well last year i spoke more english than portuguese when i was @ up and indeed it was a blessing for me to speak my native language.
Most people @ the festival speak @ least two languages except the natives of the area. ( The baianos, altough of course there are some that do)
Like they say, make trance and feeling good your language. |

You get the ferry to bom despacho at terminal marítimo de Sâo Joaquim.. you can buy tickets in advance either there, or in http://www.travessiasonline.com.br/ (in portuguese). When you leave the ferry you will be at bom despacho bus station. probably from there you will already find vans to the festival, but if you don't find, catch a bus to Cassamandi or Nazaré. In Cassamandi everyone will know where the party is. There will be vans and taxis available to get to the festival in Nazaré, Bom Despacho and Cassamandi.

there will be plenty of english speakers there, brazilians (not all, but many) and foreigners.. and even brazilians that don't speak english will try to communicate to you somehow, so don't worry.. lots of people go there by themselves, and it's hard (if not impossible) to be alone there... so you'd better buy your flight tickets before it gets too expensive! |

thanks guys for the help, looks like il be there!
one other question - with the transfer from salvador airport to the festival and back - is there the possibility that the buses will be too full and i will miss out?? im booking a flight leaving in the early morning, and if i miss the last bus out of UP i would miss my flight and be in trouble
thanks for the quick reply |

it's unlikely that you can't book a shuttle bus back to the airport from the festival, there are shuttle services available at many hours of the day there. it should also be easy to find them at the airport to go to the festival.
last year they had a time table of the official shuttle service in the festival website.. maybe you can try to contact them and sort everything before.
cheers |

What I ve heard from the company doing the tranfer is that they only had one bus at 6 am but because the demand is high they add another bus so it would be wise to book early if you are going to use that service other wise try going on your on with the ferry and bus and taxi. My question is, how early do the ferry tickets sell out how late can you arrive and still find away across to bom despacho, is there smaller boats that offer transfer in case the ferry is sold out! |

If you come from outside Brazil (as I do) you can buy the ticket at R$ 300 at the entrance door, there is no need to buy it previously.
I'm looking for different alternatives to get to the festival from Salvador's airport, since I think the R$200 cost of the official transport is way too expensive for a 5 hour bus trip.
There is another agency that is offering the same service for $130 or $150, if I close the deal without any problems with them I will post their info. |

Hello freaks!
Long time no posting here @ Isratrance!
Well, i run Trip2, wich is an agency taking ppl to e-music parties and festivals.
We are based in RIO, and are going for the 6th. yr in a row to UP, celebrating 7 yrs of trips and fun.
We have a BUS TRIP departuring from RIO (27th morning / 05th jan. afternoon), and operate following strict rules and laws for bus excursions.
Its a long but confortable trip, on a DD bus (AC, WC, FRIDGE, SOFT SEATS, LEG RESTS, TV, DVD, 2 DRIVERS, TC, etc.)
This year we also have a flying group (already sold out), but we can help arrange flights for solo travelers.
We also offer 3 different TRANSFER departures from Salvador to the event, and 3 to return, you can book either one or 2 way.
As every year, since we´re foreign friendly, we´ll help you guys in English, Spanish or Hebrew, without difficulties.
Our prices are VERY interesting and our departures almost all of them 100% confirmed.
Please feel free to reach us and ask for help, info or for bookings.
We also have tickets in case you prefer to guarantee yours before arrival.
Let us help you to plan the perfect new years eve!
