I live in Belgrade, and that place is Poseydon.First that was concetrantion camp in world war II,then fair hall.Last 3 years that was became a club, with big parties and this year even fashion week was there.Last month, lots of newpapers wrote about why are there parties and concerts, cause that is a place where was killed more than a 40.000 people(not just Jews, also lost of Serbian people was killed at that place). So,last saturday in Poseydon was planed to be concert of U.K group Kosheen and it is cancelled at the day of venue. So there will be no more concerts or parties there,i read in today newspapers, that will be a "Museum of tolerance''.

I,personal, don`t know why that club is closed, cause at lots of place on world has been killed even more people, and i don`t think that on that places are forbiden to make some parties. For example,Petrovaradin fortess in Novi Sad(Serbia)-only God know who many people was killed there, cause that fortress was old more than a 5 centurys, and on that fortress is the biggest summer festival in Southeast Europe-Exit festival, with more then a 400.000 visitors per year.

Misha: allow me to ask you a question. If it was a graveyard with the bodies of some of your relatives, would you be happy that people hold raves there?

Sure, it happened a while ago, but as long as there are living relatives of those people, this is literally dancing on the graves of their family. Hell (pun not intended), even after there are no relatives, this is still disrespectful.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

It's true, the Kosheen's performance has been canceled.
Again, this is some sort of politic question as Genije pointed earlier. I really doubt that this have something with respect towards the victims, more with some dirty politic games.

I just don`t see reasons why now, after 60 years someone canceled concerts.Beacuse, soon in Serbia will be election for president, and this is just a game to get some points to electorate. This is not done because waking up some conscience. This is done only because geting politics points. If was a word about conscience, this club will be closed long time ago.           www.soundmute-recordings.com

A good deed done for the wrong reasons - and you're saying that this is better than not doing the good deed at all? Hell, why fight violent crime, it's only done for political reasons - let everyone just shoot eachother.

The reason doesn't matter.

Actions speak louder than words.

bla-bla-bla-cliche-bla-clich-bla bla and bla.

Again, if it was a graveyard with your family, you would be speaking differently.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

this is stupid, why close a club if people were having a good time. there are people from ages ago in the earth all over the world so what is the problem? is this a religious thing?

ps- do you remember STALIN? no one ever brings up what he did , he killed more people then hitler why dont we talk about that !

i agree with you on that one BUT, its not a memorial or anything. over there so its not really a place where people go to pray or mourn theier family. its a venue for concerts . so what is the big deal, plus DANCING OR GOING TO SEE SOMETHING INSPIRATIONAL IS MUCH BETTER THAT WHAT HAS HAPPENED < WHICH IS TO SHUT EVERYTHINBG DOWN. great job

Kaz - half of my family was killed in concentration camps when Hitler invaded Lithuania. The reclamation of these sites for celebration and dancing is the final thumb to the nose to what happened there before IMO. To stop concerts in this venue is to say "we must never be allowed to get over what happened... there must never be a time when we can say 'yes, it happened, but this is now and we are all different people'".

How long will the wailing and rending of hair continue? There is no reconciliation in this.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

people get killed everyday on highways and freeways...does that mean people should stop using highways? with that logic you should stop using oil and gas too...do u know how many people have been killed or forced into servitude because economic disparity? havent you heard of brothers killing brothers for money and staining the currency notes with blood...yet you do not object to using those items for your personal use...do u know how many children are abducted from their families to make you a pair of sneakers...yet you buy them...life goes on...if you are born you are surely to die, how and when is not important...people are animals too...there is a beast inside all of us, just that beast breathes at different frequency. move on...man why sacrifice fun...isnt the sacrifice of humans enough?           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

Certain monuments have an important function as a physical reminder of the past. This is different than an aircraft hangar. This is place of death and torture. I personally would never attend an event such as this. History has a way of seeping into mortar and staying there.

"Stomping on graves" has never been such an apt phrase as in this instance.
