This is from the North America forum, but its good for all to see i thought.

Original Message from Gulliame of Synthetic Sadhus, one of NYCity's biggest psytrance party organizers.

This mesage is from Gulliame:

"To all of you Dreamers, Wonderers and Believers, To my Friends, Brothers and Sisters,

I have to announce an important news, the Saturday November 23 party was the last chapter of the Synthetic Sadhus' four years Saga. The New Yearıs Eve is cancelled as well as ALL the upcoming parties. It is the conclusion of a beautiful and unforgettable adventure, the conclusion of 10 amazing years devoted to the Trance culture and 28 magical gatherings in the Big Apple. I ran out of strenght, out of money and I worked to the bone for way too long...
As you guys know, this music is my heartbeat and the trance scene surely remains an authentic way of life that I embraced with passion, but I simply can not continue to sacrifice all my energy and my love for gatherings that people chose not attend anymore. I have been patient and offered all I could give, but I am extremely tired. It is always better to stop on a beautiful party than to wait for things to turn real ugly, It is time to accept reality and to accept that the trance culture did not prevail in New York City. Of course it was a great challenge, to offer an alternative artistic way of life in the capital of the money-driven wild capitalist world was one hell of a challenge and We, dreamers, managed to dream in a world that does not allow dreams for the last Four years! But today, while records shops are either closing, either refusing to distribute Trance any longer, while trance distributors are moving away from New York, while other productions are completely bankrupt, while legendary labels are disapearing or reconverting in Tech-House or progressive, we have to look at reality and accept that the Psy-Trance in U.S.A is really in a dead-end situation. There is a beautiful small family that I will miss to gather, but there are NO scene, no scene allowing us to survive independently, no Americans while we are in America, they did not embrace our revendications, our dreams, our music...
I guess in America they are too used to sugar-coated suppository music, they just want easy to swallow sounds to relax from their 10 hours a day work week. Because the quest in this country is not spiritual but material, which explains why in 5 years of trance in New York, we still don't have any electronic radio, any kind of sponsoring, no means of distribution and information, no specialized press, barely a spot to put flyers in the few shops there is, cops ready for action outside the parties if we distribute flyers in the street, etc...etc...etc...
It cost too much for a too small audience, in other words it is a dead end ! Because no one had the balls to take a risk, people want sure money and as fast as possible. And for the very few who took risks such as Us or Tsunami or Spectra, well at the last Tsunami, the artist refused to play because of the lack of attendance, then the last Spectra, the artist did not show up and the venue closed its doors, about us at the last Synthetic, we barely reached 500 souls while we had more than double last year at the same date. The New York crowd is before all a club crowd, they are not interested in the underground, they are not even curious. In despite of all the amazing painters and deco artists we brang, in despite of stunning international line-ups, and a truly beautiful international crowd, in despite of venues with security that join us on the dancefloors, they are not curious. It is in a way the same mentality towards foreign subtitled movies, New Yorkers are lazy, it is too much work to read subtitles. Therefore there is only three or four independant movie theater in the pretendously capital of the world ! There is such a lack of artistic motivation, of spiritual communication...And even the rave productions are falling apart one after the other, the entire electronic culture is in decline in this country, only the VERY commercial, clubby house music still drive crowds today, but that's the way it is ! Personnally, Trance is too important in my life for me to reconvert myself with more commercial productions, I would never find the motivation if it is only about making some dough...I'd rather do something else, I have other ressources, other passions....I will miss it, I will miss all of you, but I retire with no regrets, I met so many great individuals, I have so many beautiful souvenirs and I found so much inspiration, these last ten years have been unforgettable....
And thanks to you guys who supported us, who believed in the Sadhus and shared this adventure with so much love... Thanks for all the smiles, for all your mails and for all your support, it is what kept me going for so long ! But Trance culture beliefs represents the antagonist concept of New York City's mentality, we represented a small knot of resistance in front of the ever growing sins of never ending greed, we proposed an other look on life, another approach to perceive and to feel, another way to love, a TRUE way and a REAL look, but then again it does not seem that human nature instinctively bends towards these directions, it requires thinking and efforts, will and determination, frankness versus fakeness, etc... Also and most importantly, the artists did change, the true pioneers, the unavoidable ones, the ones who guided us , who made us believe, really believe became an endangered species today, some of the new comers are arrogant, pretentious, greedy and a torture to work with and I feel relieve to know that I wonıt have to deal with those no more, those artists that pretend to embrace and to represent the trance culture but that want to travel only in Business class, cry because they stay in 200 $ a night hotels, are paid Thousands of dollars for a 2 hour set, make me rent thousands of $ of equipment they fake to use on stage, require to have as many hotel nights as they feel for their "holidays" in New york, sometimes even asking me to pay for their nights out before or after the party...I mean it is NEVER enough, artists like Alien "Reject" that could disguss any trance lovers from ever listening to this music again, cheap crooks....Thanks God I am only talking of a minority, because most of the talents I brang were great guys, passionate and humble, inspiring people that gave a face to the amazing tracks we heard...
I mean if you consider yourself as Madonna, go in the fucking show Business and do not pronounce the word underground, it is forbidden on Arsimıs lips...Just stay away from people who try to share a dream, because WE are true visionnaries a little too much in advance on their time...Anyway the Sadhus will always stay alive in our memories and who knows one of these days, on a magical night, a flyer might announce a surprise Synthetic gathering...We never know what the future holds...
Although it is the end of an era, it is also the beginning of a new one, but the foundations of the true tribe seem to have dispersed, at least in New York, let's keep all these magical nights and dawns alive in our memories, and remember Krisztina who filled with grace and beauty the most memorable of these Babylonian fragments of life in which we succeeded to form an entity....It is just an "Au revoir".....
And as always, with much Love, Peace & light....Synthetic Sadhus           no sig

its not dead, i dont care what scene your in but throwing parties eventually turns into a business and when that happens you have the people who can do it vs. the people who just arent cut out for it (for whatever reason). Alien Project might cost you $4000 + expensives but the crowd he will draw should cover those costs, artist demand a price they know they can get. If Ari didnt think he could easily get 4grand he wouldnt ask, promoters are willing to pay this much. hes not a crook, he just noticed that hes big now and can demand such a price. You retire now, but there will be many others. I dont live anywhere close to NY but ive seen/heard about some of your parties, and they look killer. Sad you decided to go but where there was you someone else will slip in.

Personally I think its just starting up... look at the labels that have shown up in the last year - Spectral Concepts, Galactica, Soular, Double Agents, and my own - Ektoplazm. The scene is just getting established here... you think conflict and sociological climate had anything to do with the great popularity of trance growing in Israel? Well America is an adolescent no longer - it shall know the perils of war, and the peoples of this continent will want that spiritual release. Guillame may generalize about Americans but as far as I'm concerned all you need for a scene is 50 people in the woods getting spaced on the wonderful music we all love. DEAD it is not... maybe its not so feasable to be dragging big acts across the Atlantic all the time, thats all. But of course, the good news is all the upcoming North American artists, not the least of which are Penta, Deeper in Zen, Wormfood, pr0teus, Data Entry, PTK, IndiaDrop, ETC ETC ETC... and there is always more on the way. Maybe in three years Europe will be importing North American talent for their shows, you never know

All I'm saying is that hope is not lost. There are things going on, there are communities and scenes growing here... one step back, ten forward ok?

Keep the spirit alive..

well, even if it really dies in USA - its only american people's lose
music got nothing to do with conflicts, and sociological climates

your country is big and there will always stay many people who will like trance, no matter how much britneys and eminems will appear around

I could not have said it better myself. I fell you on this one brother. You can spend a lifetime trying to open one americans eyes and you get nowhere. there is a certain depth of being it takes to be the dreamers, and the society here does not breed dreamers, they are afraid of what we could come out with, expose. (imho) conspiracy!!

in turn your article inspired me to listen to a track i have not listened to in 3 years. the first song i ever heard thaty was not club trance. The first GOA track i ever heard. The one single track that changed my life.

Astral projection - Trance Dance

I play this song in salute to you my friend. I have wanted to expose this scene and make it available to all. But people just odnt like it. So this my friend is for you. for your effort. the effort that some of us only dream of putting forth. We need more people like you.

I wanted to cry when reading this post and looking at the good thing that is going to disappear in New York. Thank you for supporting the scene there and putting in your heart and soul, the trance world will always be in debt to you. Being an american who has lived outside the US for a long time when i went to parties there i really really hated them (only on the west coast however), the vibe sucked and people only wanted to drop E. Americans are just to into hip hop and other music, hopefully one day they will wake up and realize there is more out there and NY will see what they lost. As for artists who travel like business executives and rich snobs, you make me sick to my stomach, how do you live knowing that you sold out like this, pathetic truly pathetic. Alien project i will never buy another song of yours after hearing this, and i hope the other artists on this forum will learn from that. trance will prevail just have faith. boom

Yes, it sucks to see such a great party organizer go down after 10 years. But please don't exaggerate and make people think that just because one organizer got tired and decided to quit for a while, that the whole scene in the US just suddenly "died" overnight. There are a couple more guys making stuff in New York, including Tsunami and Spectra. Now might be a good time to get on the NY psy-trance mailing list. Check it out at: http://www.brainmachines.com/trance.html
Like Basilisk said you don't need to bring rockstars like Alien Project to have a good party. We have plenty of upcoming artists and DJ's from the US, Canada, and Mexico who can rock much harder then that poser. And I'm sure you won't need to fly them business class.

Goodbye to Synthetic Sadhus, They deserve alot of credit for being one of the oldest and most respected party organizers in North America. They were getting so big that they were even mentioned on VH1's "Behind the Music".
But now it's time for someone fresh and creative to step up and fill the void.
I'm sure that New York City won't miss a beat.

I wrote a little bit more in depth (can you believe that?) about this subject in the N. America section.
Take it Greasy.

I had tears in my eyes while reading this.
Sad, very sad.
Unfortunately I think he's right. Trance is dying, little by little. They feel it in NY cause there wasn't much crowd. Look at all of the labels that are closing down. At the change of music. Like he said, artists prefer to turn to techno and house.

Borris told me a few months ago a phrase that only now I'm starting to believe: "I predict a dark future for psytrance".           Majority is never right!

Even though artists move to house and techno, people still want psytrance. New artists come and deliver that psytrance, and new labels emerge for them.
It's just a phase of change, but definitely not the death of psytrance.

That reminds me, I was on this american electronic music forum, somebody was talking about psy-ambient and psy-trance. But nobody on the forum had a clue what he was talking about. I guess the US is not a fertile ground for anything psy-
