6-7 years ago trance artists could not live from music only. Now days (and thats a good thing) many artists can make a very good living from music.
I heard that Astral-Projection sold more than 50,000 copies of their last album(more than 300,000 total), Infected sold more that 30,000(of each album), Yahel sold more than 17,000 (waves of sound). Artists also do gigs all over the world almost every week. I think the scene is only gorwing and thats the biggest proof for it.
I see it as a good thing, but many other see it as the commercialization of the scene. I think that as long as the $ doesn't not affact the music, there is no reason why artists can make some money. I hope that more people will support the scene by buing at least 1 or 2 cds a year. Thats my point of view, what do you people think? Does the artists making $ is a good thing or not?

if someone here think that artists should not make some $ so he have serious problem.

But it does.
Yahel makes wide-ranged audience CD's.
Infected are making some tracks which they think will sell good in the US. (Its too late now to rememeber which track and who told me this  )
Many other artists are making music closer to house where the scene is bigger and they could sell more.
These are the facts. Now, I don't say that i think its wrong , just that you should mind that aswell.

Artists should win, through profissional work, enough money to live with respect and dignity.
But are you sure about these numbers? (astral sold 50.000? Are you sure?)

Of course I wish them to earn enough money to leave properly....
BUT !
The talent of an artist can't, shouldn't, didn't, won't, be measured by the size of his Bank Account !
So Astral, Infected & Yahel do music in $ purpose ?? Well this might be an explanation to my dislike of their music.. (but this is a question of taste overall)

This question comes from the words i've read along this topic.... but oakay maybe I shouldn't have to ask it, because honestly I don't care if they do it or not... their music is not my vibration, and this is of course my personal point of view (which is not better/worse than another one..)

I think 1 or 2 cds is the minimum, I personally buy a lot of CDs but there are many MP3 people who don't buy even that. Detox I assume you buy much more, but there are many people who never bother to buy and just get it from Kazza or Soulseek.
Those are just few examples, I didn't say ALL artists sell like them, but most artists sell much more than 7 years ago. I read those numbers from thenet, and the point I try to make is do you or don't you think it might affact their music and the scene? I don't think it will but many don't think like me.

Yossi, I object (:)), i don't think it has something to do with crowd-pleasing, this was said in the context of "why people lvoe u so much?"
and to the point, ofcourse there are pepole who tend more for commer. but all it means is that u must look harder to find great music, but the amount of good music is growing!!!

Hello.... just something to add..
As I've already wrote it a few times here.. one should never say generalities...... and if I am not a big fan of their whole music I could have judged the efficiency (and quality) of the "Electro Panic" track from Infected & Yahel yesterday night on a Dance-floOr..
And sure this is not the unique exemple !

even if your facts are close to correct "official" ones - it means absolutely nothing, because the REAL amount of their sold discs will stay hidden forever
i do not blame anybody, im just saying: its impossible to control anything in musical business (especially when its coming to international album sales..)
