Well my 2 cents...I thnk its a fact that listening to music...or for that matter engaging in any activity is a totally diff experience when done under the influence of a drug. Especially creative work. Now I dont mean that creativity MUST go hand in hand with drug abuse- not at all, but the fact remains that in the trance phenomenon, the whole point is to make the journey of yr inner world, inner self, yr consciousness. So I think within limits, out of out-and-out harm's range, I think psychdelic experiences r intimately connected with altered states of consciousness. Y dont have to become a half-dead zombie- but yu can play the game nevertheless and still have fun, if yu only observe some temperence and common sense. I believe Coleridge wrote a beautiful poem under the influence of opium once..!!!           ...atoms to galaxies....its all a cosmic Trance...

trance is a drug, tv is a drug, coca-cola is a drug, cigarretes are drugs, computers, mcdonalds, medicines, mdma, acid, SEX!!!!!!!!

hahaha, i would say, and i'm so sure of this, is that you can live and stay healthy doing drugs (all of the above and numerous more) but you gotta know your drug, you gotta know your body and you gotta know your mind... taking any drug without any information is so stupid in my opinion, that's why everytime i have the oportunity to do a drug i search everything i can find out (speacilly how to use it so it doesn't affect you) harm reduction as profane said...
even water in high doses can affect you... you gotta enjoy the world, but you gotta know how to enjoy it

here in brazil i'd say 100% of the people are on drugs: TRANCE, weed, mdma, E, lsd, cigarretes, alcohol, coca-cola...

Hm... I saw people here saying that psy-trance and drugs are never the same. Well, isn't 1200 mics a livin proof of it??

Not only 1200 mics, but also...

SUN Project - Sex, drugs and Acid Trance
Hallucinogen - LSD

Well, you've got the point. I don't think I need to give more examples of drug related songs, that couldn't influence more the drug culture as they do.

Those songs influence people to have a drug trip, don't they? I'm not saying that psy-trance is always a drug related melody, but in some cases, yes it is indeed. Is it good? Is it bad? I can't say it for sure. All I know, is that some people find their way on drugs (what would be of Aldous Huxley, John Lennon, Freud, Jim Morrison, Kurt Cobain and some other drug-celebrities without having their doors opened by drugs), and some lose theirselves on drugs (a friend of mine sold his clothes and stole his neighbor microwave oven to buy cocaine, and only closed his doors instead of opening them).

"Come on now, let's all take some mescaline!"
It may be a great song, and it may sound funny as hell, but you can't deny that there is a drug worship on that... and you will only find that sample on a psychedelic trance. At least I have never heard a dnb, techno or house with drug veneration.

That's my point of view, and Beto Bone, I agree with you, drug is not only what's forbidden by society. Isn't coffee a strong psychoactive drug? You know it is, you lunch, drink a cup of coffee, and you're brand new pumpin energy as hell, and you get addicted to it.

peace

I beg your pardon, I have heard other electronic musics with drug samples, for example, Miss Kittin's Frank Sinatra, the electro hype "sniffin in the vip area", among others, but even thou, we all know that on the psychedelic scene, drug worship is way more explicit and enjoyed by the ravers.
Sorry for my earlier mistake.

I think that if you have to avoid parties to say no to drugs, you're pretty "weak" of will ... I might not be the best example myself when it comes to this but see it more and more among my friends, if you can't have a good time without drugs, it's a shame but this doesn't have to mean you can't party! You can work on this, everyone can! even while visiting parties. It just takes more power of will.

it's to easy to blaim a party for using drugs, the only reason people do use it is inside those people not the party.

drugs are everywhere, and shouldn't be associated with psytrance only like some people in here seem to do.

as for music promoting drugs... i don't think this works this way... i killed the equivalent of 2 world wars together in Wolfenstein 3d, this doesn't make me dislike germans, or grab for a gun and going on a killingspree.           www.psytracks.com :: Brand new website for sharing your psytracks with the world. I think we should draw a line between drugs that work on the mind and those that work on the body - psychedelics vs. non.

not that non-psychedelic substances are necessarily bad, either - the majority of modern art, as well as modern music and literature has been created under the influence of something or other. And psy is very much a part of modern music.

though of course when 12 year olds get into it, that's a different story. But when 12 year olds get drunk on vodka in Russia nobody seems to think there's anything wrong with that.

No....and here's one thing that really ticks me of sometimes...if people expect me to tolerate their drug habits then I expect them to tolerate my drug free habits

theres an infected mushroom show tomorrow and already I have people around me talking about if they dont take 2/3 x's, they cannot tolerate the music. I would of course have wanted people to share what the trance music offers, with or without drugz. but then again, i know their joy for the music will last a couple of hours. i'm not advocating a drug free musical experience, as I can have the joy with or without it. I'm just asking people to respect this music for what it offers. dont turn it into an equation that psytrance=drugz.           `Bottomless wonders spring from simple rules, which are repeated without end` Mandelbrot

and geez people, what the hell are you writing about drugs, i don't have much money at this moment and this is a time i need to get real - univ and work - so i don't use them b-u-t:

- music is more intense with hash
- mind's heaven ticket is mdma
- the greatest sex is the one with cocain
- the crazy world of acid, a must visit

I think everybody should try those, you don't really have a completed life without trying those. But ofcourse, don't remember to get real

I think if you can't go to parties without doing drugs you should consider not going at all...its definetelly not good for you...I know some ppl in this situation, they stopped going to parties because they just associate parties with taking drugs....thats no good...

About what Wako Jako said, that trance is not the reason but parties are...I think ppl take MUCH more drugs, in psy parties, I go to many other music festivals and yes, many ppl are also on drugs, but the amount of ppl is much much less, and its not explicit like in psy parties where you can see ppl inhaling stuff in the bar balcony or swalling pils everywhere you look....its just too much...

I don't have problems with ppl on drugs, as long as they know what they are doing and they respect the others around them, but some parties ppl just abuse, and for me its a sad cenario, when the sun comes and I see everyones face completelly smashed (either in "Zombie mode" or with a "Chemical Smile on theyr face...") ...

98% of the parties I went, I didn't take anything, and I really feel I have a better time with myself and with the others around me when I don't do anything...I'm quite happy with my natural way of being, and If I want to have some psychedelic experience with substances (never chemicals btw) in my opinion parties are not best place to have them...

I accept what each one wants to do, but I can't denny I would prefer much more if less ppl would do drugs on parties....

And also, some stuff gets you really addicted (coke, even mdma i know ppl that nowadays take it in almost a daily basis....). And it takes a lot of time for one to accept to be hooked...by that time you've fried quite a few part of your brain cells lol (actually its sad )

Akai, sorry, but in my opinion your sentence "you don't really have a completed life without trying those" is the most ridiculous sentence on this thread....

Ppl, just try to be moderate, do what you feel you should do , but with responsability and thought.
I bet a lot of you think "I really shouldn't be doing this", but keep on doing it...

And never think a drug will make you a better person, thats just a big stupid myth.

Hello my friends.

Well, i didn't take any drug about year and i'm so happy being without drugs.
I, personally, think that trance music encourage young people to use drugs,
that's why i try to avoid friends that use drugs on trance partys.

Well the quetion is, how many people use something to get high on trance partys.
on my statistics there is 70%, what do u say?

I don't do drugs.

I vibe off the music - i don't need drugs to make the experience any more enjoyable.

I think 95% are under influence of drugs at parties
and I think people should do this if they want to
though I would prefer that less people used bad drugs, mostly alcohol.          Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

Sorry Fluo, i disagree, drugs, wisely used, provide some "unique" experiences and that's my point. Drug abuse is another subject. You can read stories everywhere of people who, just as an example, do mdma (crystal not shitty pills) once a year, with friends, at enviroments like a great sunset. Btw, if you didn't try you can't really be a reliable source of info about those kind of experiments. Sorry about saying that but i see that a lot, people saying this and that, about something they never tasted (perphaps something they fear to try). Misinformation, like happens a lot with MDMA, just helps to broadcast fear. Check www.thedea.org (check drug info section), an example of what is going on with false info.

Drugs are used in parties, because, and it's just that, they provide "expanded" experiences, ofcourse some are good, some are bad but that's what happen in everything right?

ps: i'm not saying "people you have to do drugs" not even close, i' just expressing my point of view based on my experiences, i'm pretty sure a heroin or alcool addicted would not agree with me.
