Music may not take us to the Moon or let us live forever, but as we enter trough the doors it is opening before us, we find things far beyond our everyday experiences..

Future Sound of London - Papua New Guinea
Rabbit in the Moon - Out of Body Experience
And these are the only 2 tracks I've liked so much outside the Psy genre. Both absolute masterpieces and total tearjerkers.

This is a really good question for me at the moment. Usually I would have a big list of gorgeous tear-jerking chill out tracks I could mention, some of which have already been listed by other users before me; OTT's Smoked Glass And Chrome, Ozric Tentacles Aura Borealis, Blisful Awareness by Shpongle, My Kingdom by FSOL, California Sunshine by Abakus (Youth remix) are all classic and some of my personal favourites.
However the track at the moment which reduces me to tears is Hallucinogen - Angelic Particles, particularly from 4m16s where the gated pads and arpeggiated synths come in and build up over about 45 seconds.
I'm defnitely more into my psychill than I am psytrance as a rule, but something about Angelic Particles gets to me every time amid all the chaos. I have to be really careful when I play it!
It's also worth checking out the OTT remix of this track from the In Dub album, which uses some of the same samples but in contrast is pure floaty heaven, especially from 6m20s, where the guitars layer over each other on a bed of sweeping pads, psychedelic squidges and deep, dubbed out bass. This has been known to raise my emotional goosebumps from time to time, so way to go (The Blessed) Simon and (The Beloved) OTT on both counts. |
