As a dj I can say that in my top ten I only write the traxx I really like at the moment...nothing more...nothing less...some traxx on my list may be released or unreleased...don't matter to me as long as they are good!!!

whan i mentioned the top 10 lists i was referring to artist and djs on labels, not the general music listening public. i agree with those who say that they write top 10s with their fav tunes of the time but i don't think the 'professionals' have the same intent. |

I don't think that's true at all. That suggests Label managers don't like the music that they release, and DJ's don't like the music that they play. In this case you can't really seperate the taste/promotional factors imho. |

no, i didnt mean that as label managers wouldn't release stuff they didn't like (unless the needed a few extra cheap crap tunes to fill a compilation) but i find they can be narrow minded and only use their top ten as a promotional tool, imo, which is not their intended function. |
