ok heres a solution why dont they set up 2 tables together while one finishes up they could set up the other equipment on the other table , and as the dj is about to finish they could plug everything in. i dunno makes too much sense to me.

i will never leave my laptop out on the decks throur the hole party..
first since in outdoor it gets very dirty
second it might get stolen
third usualy there is no space for it anyhow
fourth the connection takes only 10 minutes what so big deal about it..
fifth it saves org. to rent another mixer and the money can help pay your booking...

with all that , i dont like more then the nececery to be on stage.. can be little stressing sometimes
but if its the next artists and the org. im not complaining they supose to be there but when some dancer wanna touch your mixer then it gets completly weird and unpleasent

it happens to me quite a lot,and not only live acts that after me its also djs that cant wait 10 mins until ill finish my set.
but bigger problem imo is when they-artists/producers want me to finish 20/30 mins earlier..if they told me before i start to play its ok,at least ill know how to build my set.but otherwise its not so nice.
ill never stop the music, its not a telenovela and the crowd doesnt know exactly what happens on the deck, from the crowd poit of view the music stoped.

It sucks when there are a shit load of people trying to put together there stuff for their set when you are playing. I mean if its one guy doing his stuff, not disturbing its ok...but if you have the DJ/Producer, the technician, the org. dude and a friend who came specially to see how its done...i hate it!!!! Do your thing but respect the person who is performing...its not only the crowd who is travelling, the guy on the decks/controller is also focused!!!

My bro Palex, turning down the music is not the solution....express your feelings after the set to the org. not during the set, to the crowd

Peace...

ok,maybe its just me but i hate when the next dj/live comes to play 30-20 mins before i end my set, with his laptop, keyboard etc...then comes the sound technician to connect all those wires to the mixer...then comes the dj/live friend, the friend friends, party organizer..etc..etc..damm way too much people behind the decks before i end my set..i just hate it!!!

this just happen to me last saturday,in fact, this happened every time i played at a party, only diference this time i turn off the music and said to them...tell me when ur done,so i can finish my set!

in my opinion, artists, toghether with the org, should have all the equipment wired before the party, thats the right way.

what do u think about this?

tell me ur thoughts.

I realy agree with you and I always hate it to have to interrupt djs with setting up my livegear and we always try to as discrete as possible. But the problem is just the organization very often. stages are often too small and too crowded. the only professional solution is to have a stage-security or a closed access to the stage and to have enough room with desks and 2 mixers over there.
but on the other site, you are a dj and you get payed for it. you have to deal with that kind of trouble. as queen allready said:"show must go on".

Here's how you can prevent it:

1. Turn your mointor and/or headphone volume up really loud so you can't hear anyone.

2. Dance around really crazy flailing your arms and legs as much as you can so no one will come near you.

3. ?

4. Profit

If this doesn't work, just start asking the love act if you can use their computer to check your email/myspace/facebook and don't let up til they do or they leave.

easier than that.....take a pair of scizzoera and go chop chop on the wires that connect to the amplifryer           When death comes to your doorstep, make sure you are alive

If the table that has the equipment on it is closed in the front, just dj with no pants on, then when people come behind the decks they won't wanna set up their stuff

Seriously though, the only time this should matter is if they're getting in your way when you're trying to do something. Just let the tracks play a bit longer so you have time that you don't need to be standing at the decks and let them setup during those times. If you're busy, they should respect that and if they don't, let them know or just nudge em out of the way. I've done plenty of mixes with reaching over someone's arms who's setting up a laptop.           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound
