Well, I am probably going to be on the Mafia hitlist  from now on for saying this (sleeping with the fish) But..........
Artists! 
There is a way to avoid getting your music ripped off day by day. If you do a quick search on Audiogalaxy for "Metallica" you will see that 95% of the songs are blocked, meaning you can't download them. The other 5% are songs that Metallica either want to promote or their record label hasn't asked Audiogalaxy to block.
What I am saying here is that you too can block your music from being downloaded on AG. All you have to do is get your record label to send an e-mail to music@audiogalaxy.com explaining that your music is copyright protected and request that they be blocked. Its that easy. You might be able to do this without a record label, I'm not sure.
Think before you do this, though, because you might be shooting yourself in the foot. There are many people that rely on Audiogalaxy to "test drive" a CD before they actually go out and buy it. The more established artists have less to worry about but no one is going to give a new artist a chance before he actually hears something from him and really likes it. Well whatever this post is getting way too long, tell me what you guys think.
P.S Does Isratrance have a witness protection program?

i mean instead of listening to the cd i´m buying in the store i listen to it at home and then go and buy it

But yes i do like to listen to tracks on AG. I mean i cant burn cds at school(the only place where i can download songs, since i have 56k at home). SO i cant spread stuff or rip off music from the artists. I like to listen to new stuff that is released. if i like it I buy it.
I think ive discussed this before.
Well this is a complicated problem which will take me too much time to explain.

i think that you should buy every CD you see attractive (by music/picture).
after all you live one time and the music collection will get bigger and fatter with the time

I'm one of those who check CDs first through AG as well.
Listening to them at the cd shop is not the same, cause it's not your sound system, you cant relax with the music  and you can't really check it out. How long can you stand there and jump to the beat of the new psytrance track you're listning to??
TheEdge, we'll be all sleeping with the fish, with cement shoes after this thread  , but that's fine with me, the fish are very friendly...

blocking AG wont solve the problem mate..
the MAFIA is much more bigger than u think..
AG is like a 1% of the whole deal..
most of the mafia's business nowdays are going on private FTPs all over the world.
thousands of people are busy most of the day in riping new music , upload it and download it ... lots of people from "inside" labels are involved , so as some artist and djs which release (rip) their friends unreleased tracks on mp3.
right now i cant see anything that will help artist "avoid getting their music ripped off day by day"
sorry  but this is the situation .
main point:
1. no u're probably wont be on the mafia's hitlist
2. leave AG alon !! its not the main problem here..
hope u got the idea of what im trying to say..

Want to test a CD before buying it?
There are many many samples around the internet, and I don't think you need a 192kbps file to know if a track is good.
Downloaing samples here and there will be enough to see if an album is good or not.

it dosen't matter if it's blocked or not, this or other way people who want free music will get it, i use AG but i also buy cd's i like, everything on the internet can be by passed so blocking isn't gonna help much .
maybe if the stores will stop being so greedy and stop charging 90 nis for cd ...

Yes blocking won't solve the problem but it will help. Lots of people will see that they can't download the new stuff so they will go out and buy it (in a perfect world). The BIG Mafia guys are already lost cases you need to focus on the smal guys first.
About the stores being greedy, maybe in Israel you pay 90 nis (=about 20 American $?) but if you go to psyshop you can find the newest stuff for a lot cheaper. Most CD's for about 9.25$ (=about 40 shekels) The most expensive will be 12$ Max (about 55 nis) If you order 2-3 CD's at a time you can cut out big time on the shipping too. |
