I beg to differ

+1 naturally ticon has his name,
but this album has it's audience who love it,
the effect would come later if it was not ticon,
that may be true, but it would come eventually...           http://www.last.fm/user/LastFmKoen

I feel like this album is just an attempt by Ticon to produce the music that has inspired them. One track is basically Extrawelt, another is basically Trentemoller. Then there are retro tunes, trendy vocal electro tunes, etc.. It's all done quite well, with top quality production, but it isn't anything new. Perhaps it's new in the sense that most artists don't combine so many styles on one album, but the individual tracks aren't particularly original. Still, I can't really fault Ticon for at least trying to move in a different direction.

I totally agree on that

1987 is only track that promise, all the rest, is something like electro, ticon can make so much better than that..           LIFE Is Just The Choice Between FEAR and LOVE.

I've taken a few more listens. I like track #1, there are a few moments, but all in all it sounds just like everything you've heard in the last 3-4 years.

Sound quality is high, as always, but I don't find the music interesting at all.           [ cuBe ] :: cubeg.org •

I am impressed by the amount of variety of feeling expressed in the reviews of this one album! Love, hate, indifference, and nostalgia. Tracks that are loved by some are detested by others. Some like one song, others the whole album. This is the first forum review column I have read on IsraTrance, but I think I will not find an album that generates such diverse opinions elsewhere, will I?

As it happens I have only heard one song off this album. I was given the song by a DJ that had played it at an event I attended four weeks ago in the Mojave desert in Calfornia. Last week I went to another event with a larger crowd and a three day schedule called LunarSun that was located very near where the previous event had been held out in the desert. I have the feeling that when the DJ played the Ticon song 2 AM in the early dawn around 7 AM the set and setting for my personal listening was just about perfect for this song. I was kind of tired from being awake for so long the day before and having listened and danced for many hours with more to come. The cold of the night was now giving way to the growing warmth of an early spring day in the desert. This event was divided into two parts, Progressive Trance night and first morning, then Psychedelic Trance next night. Daytime afternoons were not necessarily so organized with a chill stage at the opposite end of the camping area. I was post peaked and feeling good and this happy joyfull song was played! How could one not like it or feel good with it playing? It just puts a smile on your face. It seemed like I saw smiles everywhere while it was playing. Fun music for a few songs before and after it too. The DJ had a plan. Nothing serious about it, just fun. Plenty of serious music at other times.

I have seen this particular album talked about in other places, so it certainly has my curiosity about how it can evoke such different responses from people that like the same type of music. I am not familiar with any of their other music, so I don't have a fan's attachment to their older style or albums. And if these reviews here are any indication, each song on the album must have a widely different sound when considered as a whole. I've always wanted to know who put Planet Caravan between Paranoid and Ironman anyway? I'll buy the album eventually and check it out. For now I shall endeavor to forget what I have read here to try to keep my objectivity about when I hear it the first time and hopefully when I do play the album nice and loud in the back room I'll see what all the talk is about. Maybe even write about it here.           - - -

Bump.

I've just started catching up with all the electronic music I've missed since 2007 And this is one of those.

Ticon have always had a special spot in my heart. They were the headliner of the very first party I attended, and that means a lot, quite frankly.

I'm not in the mood to get into it too deeply (and somehow I also seem to have lost my ability to write about music), but I just need to say that 1987 together with On Air by Son Kite is the best tune of the 00 years. Seriously. So simple yet effective. I heard it at a party last weekend and it still gives me goosebumps allover. Stupid grin on face. Tears in my eyes (well, I've tried at least, they wouldn't come though).

In my opinion, it totally speaks for artists if they manage to write such a hit after so many years. As I see it, most artists tend to wash out after the second album. This totally isn't the case here.           Anakoluth A Pebble in Your Eardrum's Shoe since 2001!
