Doing music in different names is in my opinion not a way of showing respect. There are many reasons for producing in different names and many of the reasons are already mentioned in this thread.
Actually I think it's lack of respect from the "fans" (I prefer music listeners) to not accept an evolution and development from the artists and like Shahar said I think that many artists are forced to start different projects just because not offending people that only expect one sound from an artist year after year. The most interesting and beautiful music is made when artists are putting their heart and soul in the music and when they don't feel restricted from anything, please respect the artists and let them do what they want. Of course you can give your feedback with buying or not buying the music that they are making and then the artists can make a choice ... shall we keep on doing what we love or shall we produce what we think the people will buy!
Respect yourself and do what you love!

I'm with Seb completely here. When I like an artist's creation and mind, I follow it. Not always I like where he goes, but at least I know who is it.
When artist change names, I become suspicious of it.
Life is not about expecting, its about accepting.

If everything in our life was predictable
wonder how boring they whould be ?
The suprises in life sometimes for good , and sometimes for bad are breaking the routine
I analog this to create music , i think some of the well known artists that most of the trance listeners knows thier sound whould do it to suprise the listeners aswell , but the main goal is to expirence new sounds and to create music from the soul , and to enjoy it.
maybe to break thier (the artists ) routine aswell no?

i agree on what you say about metallica
i stopped listening to them after the black
album. and now i think they really compremized in their music for the money and popularity.
i thought alkways that they stay "againts the mainstream" but looking back they came to a point that they run out of juice and started
to make mainstream music to apply to a bigger crowd. |
