The pleasure and rituals of listening a new album!!
- Do you play it on a big speaker or just plug in your headphones
- do you choose a specific location (home, office, car, outdoor)?
- Do you roll a nice joint to set your mood, or you would rather be under no influence?
- Do you listen to the album in the right sequel, or you move forward and skip parts of the tracks
- Do you listen to it once at a time, or more?
- Or you simply have no rituals at all??

I always like to listen to a new album while stuck in traffic

in bed before I sleep.

Technics headphones, a good amplifier.

I find dark psy is the best to sleep to, gives really quirky dreams           --- Love In Light, Dance In Darkness ---

usually, i put the tracks of the known artists, and then move to the less known.and i prefer to listen to the new album at home, it gives me more room to fully listen to the tracks without distraction.           ...

in most cases:
-at home
-alone
-loudspeakers
-from beginning to end without interruptions
-checking out the cover/credits etc. while listening
-sober
-perhaps re-listening the best tracks after round 1

^Same as above, just exchange the word 'sober' with 'stoned'.

About checking out the cover/credits ect. while listening. Before psytrance I used to buy rock'n'metal (and electronica) cd's, and something that I realy miss from those days are reading the lyrics (sober) while listening to the album.

I'm realy thankful for the psytrance albums that I get with interesting art, some good words, stories inside the sleeve.

First listen at home but usually just a preview of the tracks to get a taste. Then mostly in the car (got plenty of time to listen to it while driving to and back from work). Sadly enough, i dont have much time lately to dedicate to this process at home - so i guess its not much of a ritual for me these days.
Cheers!

I like to check the artcover and booklet first, then put the album and play it in a high quality sound system at a moderate volume (after being used to a high volume, it is a major turn down having to lower the volume because of the neighbors).
Then listen to it again many uncompromisable times, and finally listen to it 2 or 3 times to write a review or get the feeling of how to properly mix it with other stuff.

*Big speakers & headphones
*Home
*Under the influence of THC & if its really good acid screening also
*Full album in its correct sequence, no skipping parts etc.
*4-5 times usually, more than that if the music is layered & complex

Car listening, iPod listening etc etc puts me off. Can't concentrate : )

I like to raed the whole cover while rolling a big fat spliff put the cd album on, relax and listen to it at least 3 or 4 times in a row if it's good.

If it's not what i expected i put it with the rest of the collection.

wow evryone has a little ritual, I like to listen to my new albums with a couple of friends that I like discussing music with. We usually park somewhere and smoke and listen as loud as the car speakers can handle. I prefer being in a remote spot I think its really important.
