Ok...I just got done comparing the Dynaudio BM6A's and the BM6A MKII. Could saving the $400.00 be a decision that I come to regret later.

I pretty much am set on the BM6A, or I was untill now. The MKII's seem less powerful, but I know to let the sound speak for itself.

Has anyone actually looked into the differences between these two. I found that the BM6A have a higher SPL @ 1 and 2 meters. But is this really going to matter, I won't be maxing these babies out being that I am in an apartment.

Help a brother out. BM6A or BM6A MKII...hmmm.

All of you have been so helpful in these forums, what would we do without Isra?

I own the BM6A so obviously i would recommend those..The specs seem pretty much the same so its a tough call..I guess its more of a personal choice, your best bet would be to listen to them both & pick the one that you like the most..

As for BM6A MKII, from what i've heard Dynaudio are trying to cash in on the fame of the BM6A's & have apparently cut some corners in the new model..I'd go with the original MKI..

p.s Vipal which country are you in? I know a couple of sites that can beat those thomann prices, depending on where you live..          http://www.soundcloud.com/getafixmusic

What cables would I need to buy for Fostex PM-2 MKII monitors? I know one end has to be 1/4" but the other... ?

from dynaudio the new one are supposed to be better ,buying the bm6a for the price they are now is a joke,750 euro just some months ago and now 950?if the new one are not better forget dynaudio,i ll go for genelec 8040a for less than 650 euro, they are maybe even better, and try the adam(800 euro for the p22), i have mixed on bm6a and the p22 (not in the same room)the dyns have just a more accurate imaging, that s only where they beat the p22.the bm6a sound nicer but that not what make good mix, with the adams you make mix where sounds don t eat the space of the others, all is very clear, it s like you have the bass medium higth and everything between need equing,it s strange at first ,but it s a lot easier to get the mix right, you can ear a 0.1 db boost with them or 2/3 ms less on a compressor realese

I wish someone could change my opinion about monitor for dance music, psy trance is this particular issue.
This opinion is not intended to people that work in very small rooms.
I use and have tested a lot of 6" to 6,5" low driver monitors, mostly active ones.
But as we re here to produce dance music genre, the low end is really important.
I often see that people use to think that some nice brands small monitors are the best of the best option to be bought. But, in my opinion, if our music is intended to be played at club/rave big systems, we need to "test" it during production/mixing process to have a real impression of the details, mainly the low end.
I use Dynaudio bm6, which are really nice. But every mix I perform at a friend s pro studio, I feel how do I have less tools during mixing regarding the low details. The real low frequencies, that are more to be felt than to be heard, are really important for me. I d never cut all the frequencies of a kick drum around 30 to 40Hz, or maybe of the intire track as I often see people here saying that they do.
So when I get to my friend s studio he s got 2 wonderfull tannoys 15" low driver units. That s when I really see how easy things get to mix dance music when you can really perceive the low end.
So now, I m willing to change my monitors even for a lower price ons such as Mackie hr824 or event asp8. I m sure hat they ll give me more low end feeling compared to smaller ones.
Here some specs regarding low freqs of most famous monitors:

brand/model/driver size/lowest freq response

smaller ones:
Genelec:
8020a - 4" - 66Hz
8038a - 5" - 58Hz
8040a - 6,5" - 48HZ

Dynaudio:
bm5 - 6,9" - 50Hz
bm6 - 6,5" - 41 Hz

Adam:
A7 - 6,5 - 46Hz

bigger ones:

genelec - 8050a - 8" - 38Hz
dynaudio - bm15a - 9"_ 30Hz
event - asp8 - 8" - 35Hz
Mackie - hr824 - 8.75" - 39Hz

Each monitor has it s own identidy, and the high end range should bea matter of taste if yo consider brands such as genelec, dynaudio, adam and few other comparable ones.
My point here is, if you can have a cheaper Event asp8 which bigger than a 5" genelec (more expansive), you should consider at least trying the cheaper brand. It might surprise you when you realize that you d save money and get wonderfull mixes results with them.

i agree ,if you want to mix the lowend right you need to hear it,it ll sound always better than if you don t(in a room with good acoustic)
