im not getting into a debate here.. i dont like mackies and i will never do. they sound like bass boxes to boom and bassy.
i have bm5a and they are indeed lighter in bass than the mackies. but i have worked alot of time with the 624 and they suck more than the 824 cos of that uncontrollable bass. |

You heard the HR824s in the wrong room then. They are flat speakers, frequency response is +/-1.5dB from 20k to 37hz. Some people get "scared" from all that deep bass they never heard and brand something as too bassy, but what you really want, is to listen to that "uncontrollable" bass, so that you can control it using EQs and compression.
In the wrong room you loose perception of the mix with standing waves of such long wavelenght.
Fair enough if you don't like them, and its great you are enjoying the BM5As (they are good monitors, for the cash), but the Mackies don't "suck", that's for sure. Lots of people that know what they are doing, swear by them.

A poor craftsman always blames his tools. The monitors simply show you whats happening in the mix. Its up to you to manipulate the spectrum and make a balanced mix that translates well on PAs and desktop speakers alike. Its whats mixing is all about. |

And a monitor that can do that properly costs quite a bit.

Hey so heres an idea, i brought the M-audio BX5's and a BX10 to go with. This set up cost me just over $1000 and worked out awsome! I know the BX5's suck at the bottem end but who cares when ya got a matched 10inch sub! Sounds fantastic and ya get absolute full range 20-20kHz, which is espeshliy handy if you mixing 4 PA systems, which most probably are. Another benifit of this system is if ya find yourself mixing with slightly too much or too little bass, ya can jsut tweak the sub slightly to compensate and buddy buddy off ya go. Anyone else got any coments on a 2.1 monitoring system? |

If you could spend 4000-5000 euros in two speakers FOR PRODUCTION what would you get?
Klein + Hummel? Some friends told me the price was too high and for that money you could get something better |

Thx Atropa, Review-wise the p22a's seem to kick dynaudio bm6a's ass, but listening to some ppl and reading forums it seems the Adam are also lacking some lowend...
Let's see if we can find a shop which has both models and do an A-B comparison...

Now is the time to upgrade my monitors too and i end up with the same candidats BM6A's or P22's?
I had A/B in the shop and the dyns are clear winners for me in the low end and they seems to be more musical than p22's...but well this is just my 30 min listening ipmressions!
I would love to hear your opinion about thus two too:)
Thank you!

Both have their own advantages. The A.D.A.M's are renowned for their tweeter technology & the dynaudio's have plenty of low end which translates very well easily.
I listened to both and went with the BM6A's. I would also get both if i could afford em!

Hi!
I got an offer to buy Tannoy TS series (TS8,TS10,TS12) really cheap.
Any experiences of this series of subwoofers?
Would it be possible to use these subs with dynaudio bm6a with good results?

uh strange i find the p 22 go lower ,the bm6a don t have subbass , they cut just before but both are great ,they both have good and bad things about there sound but i like more the p22( to me they are more detailed in the middle and hi freq , that why you said the bm6a are more musical i guess)check the genelec 8040 too for the price maybe i ll choose them over the bm6a.
buy the one you like the most cause you ll hear them for a long time thats the most important thing, you need to like the sound to get the vibes in your tracks, if it sound always like shit it s boring to make music.(even if your production is very good in the end ) |
