Hi people this is a question i'd like to ask to people from india.

do you think Goa Trance has something in common with the Yoga science of self realization or the lessons taught by the Bhagavad Gita?

a lot of Goa trance has samples who speak about meditation that's why I got curious, also because india is home to paramahansa Yogananda's thread.

Ommmmmmmmmmm Peace

but isn't some music a vibration coming from the spirit?

doesn't it have the power to unite people and create harmony and give light to others?

wasn't that the original spirit of goa trance?

btw my only addiction is meditation, maybe i'm a bit of a forum junkie too but only that

ok I'll have to admit it, I'm also addicted to devotional music from great Indian Yoguis like Paramahansa Yogananda.

finally i'd like to say I want to have a nice conversation here because I'm interested in India, but there is something that isn't flowing if you can't tell me what it is here PM me please

otherwise this will be my last post in this section, at least for a while.

Respect!          Peace, Love, Light and Harmony

Goa Gil has a rich psychedelic history.

Gil grew up in the middle of the San Francisco music scene of the sixties; he then left to journey to India in 1969. Having been a musician all his life and then doing intense Yogic practices with Gurus in the Himalayas he tried to unite the two, Music and Yoga), into One Spirit befitting this Age. The result was the Goa Full Moon parties, and his concept of "Redefining the Ancient Tribal Ritual for the 21st Century". His focus is in trying to use the party situation as a medium to uplift the consciousness of the participants through the Trance Dance Experience.

He says: "Since the beginning of time mankind has used music and dance to commune with the Spirit of Nature and the Spirit of the Universe... We are trying to use Trance Music and the Trance Dance Experience to set off a chain reaction in Consciousness...
Through the Trance Dance Experience hopefully people will become more sensitive and aware of themselves, their surroundings, the crossroads of humanity, and the needs of the planet... With this Awareness comes Understanding and Compassion. THAT is the need of the hour, and the true Goa State of Mind !!!"

I say yes of course... Trance dance parties are the modern tribal experience equivalent of beeting drums, dancing around the fire and ahhh well going into a trance, tapping into universal subconscience. It is a way to strengthen our intuitive nature and learn about ourselves from the universe.... not the only way but a way.

I can relate that before 3000 years devotees of Krishna was whorshiping god by celebrating with tribal music and dancing happy with love peace and respect, partying all time in the name of god.
Trance culture sets a bridge between the past with present and future, now we have digital sound with repetetive beats.
Goa trance created a mixture of devotional music with break beats and techno, mantra music.
Backty yoga is devotional music, the music that touches the heart, love peace and unity for those who dance together and play music,it is trancedental, ecstatic, meditation spirituality..
If u like u can relate and mix them easy and peacefully,if u dont like its ok also.
There is a battlefield of war with gods and demonns...spiritual inspiration for good music.           ~~~~~~~namaskar~~~~~~~~~

@Forza please do not be discouraged and stop posting only because one of my brothers gave his 50 paisa, all you have to do is understand that an Indian brother is a little argumentative and we do not think before we rubbish any thought without giving it much respect.

about the topic.. yes definitely the music in question has a distinctive relation with what the Holy BhagwatGeeta has to teach, music has always been a way to touch the spirit from all ages in any form, Krishna plays the Flute and Shiva plays the Mridanga and the make us dance.
Now the Geeta has the distinctive advantage of being a book that was ahead of its time as it is much needed in the times of today with sayings like 'One must do the Karma without thinking about the results'.. which is one of the basis this community is based on, to give love & respect without thinking that doing this will make anything come back.

@mk47: With due respect, you are completely wrong. Yes, a*** and goa trance are good together but I know many people who go through the night without taking any substance and I bet they understand the music more then you. If you think that normal goa trance without a*** is headache then I guess you are need of some serious help.

@Forza: To answer your question: yes and no. Personally, I read Gita and do Yoga for knowledge, improve my concentration and for knowledge. I listen to Goa trance because thats the only music I connect to. I love watching 100 people getting down at 10AM even after dancing for the whole night.

But yes, I think there is a strong connection between all three as they all teach us to think about the soceity and environment rather then just ME ME ME!

@Cosmic Gill: Awesome way to put the stuff. "'One must do the Karma without thinking about the results", I love this statement.           Discover.Vote.Share() - http://www.beamto.us

the whole act of dancing for long periods of time with music tht invokes all your senses do bring a very different spiritual and clear state of mind. i am still in the process of educating and understanding tht, AND a*** isnt the only way to get there.
