I've narrowed my option to buying a new soundcard to 2 options right now:
NI Audio Kontrol 1
Mackie Onyx Satellite.
Any thoughts? which one you believe will be better?
Im making music (electronic of course) at home, not professionally. I want to record instruments. Working with Cubase .
I have monitors of course and midi controller keyboard.
Thanx....

thanx for the response man.
It doesn't have to be usb. I am also into FireWire and i did check the
audiofire 4 but it is a little to expensive at the moment.
Is it worth it saving some more money and buy this one?
or are there other options?

i would definatly save up for this one..soundwise its comparable with rme fireface..on the fireface you just got more I/O`s , little better clocksync and drivers..
but the sound (A/D D/A conversion) is really almost as good as on the fireface..
amazing dynamic range and powerful clear sound..
you would be satisfied for sure..
cheers

dunno about the Firebox. Mine just turned into a brick just by updating the software & firmware. Check the Presonus forums. Lotsa talk
& check this..

So i thought I'd post this up here to possibly help anyone who ends up going though what I did.
I am making the switch to a Mac book pro from a PC and I have the Presonus Firebox sound card.
I am use'in Ablton to mix and what not. I had the hardest time figuring out why I was not getting a headphone cue to work right.
After a bunch of head scratching I figured out that the mixer program that comes with the Firebox was not doing anything.
It was loading fine and everything was working like buttons and sliders but it was not doing anything to the sound.
Without the use of this mixer you cannot tell the soundcard to out put what channels to the headphone jack. Thus no cue...
It is set to default setting and that tells it to mix all channels to headphone jack.
I am running the headphones into the #5 out put on back of the soundcard, thats the only way I could figure it out short buy'in a new sound card.
Anyone els use'in the Fire box with a Mac book pro?
Any fix out there for the fire box mixer in OSx? |
|
+1 but I got no sound or anything
normal Macbook though, not Macbook Pro
also mine worked for 2 years before updating the software & firmware
can anybody recommend a cheap 3 analogue stereo out soundcard? No analogue inputs required! Either that or a control box including an analogue stereo out + a headphone out with either 16 knobs or 12 knobs & 4 sliders
new Hadal Drop album on the way

No it never had any problems on my PC, it has been a great peice of gear untill that last issue with the software mixer.
The 1st time I did a firmware update it took a bit of messing around with my windows settings to get it to link up again but after that it was fine.
Im going wait a few months to see if there is any updates for the mac problem.
I also think that these issues are with the older vertions. If you buy it now you probly get all the updated firmware and fire wire chip set.
Just like any electronic it will eventualy burn out, I'd look into getting it fixed it might just be something simple.

Hi guys,
Just wanted to share a link with people who got troubles with their firewire...
its a universal driver for 1394 OHCI, that bypass windows'one.
It allow S800 and you can configure many things that you can't with regulars legacy drivers.
It was made for Firewire cameras, totally coded from scratch from the leaders in this domain, but works perfectly with all audio firewire equipements.

I'm in need for a decent audio interface with at least 4/5 inputs.
This one caught my attention, Focusrite Saffire Pro 24
http://www.focusrite.com/products/saffire/saffire_pro_24/
Seems exactly what I need.
That way I can hook up my Nord to it and add fx over each of it's 4 audio channels in realtime
Any other contenders in this price range?
As my budget is kind of looow.
