Hi guys
what can you tell on the M-audio 410 ?
it seems like the best for its price , most of in/out options etc.
i plan to connect throu pcmcia>Fw so it will be 6 pins Fw.
anyone had expirience with it?

Just be sure that the pcmcia is with TI chipset on it . M Audio has alot of stability issues due to that .

it all about the chipset thats within the card
For example , one famous (or better most used on motherboards) type of fw chipsets is VIA ,
other type is TI (texas instruments) which was also the first fw technology
i had also a 410 , and from what i know and discussed a a little , M Audio FW products
cooperate with the TI chipset with other types it is not stable (may have crashes etc..) (RME for example does not have that problem , its stable both in VIA and TI )
Its MAudio problem in my opinion , though i never had any problem (cause i have an Asus motherboard with TI on board)
So i suggest you check the specs of the card to make sure it uses TI on it and not some other chipset ,

the second is fw 800 (you dont need it - just to see)90% of the cards works with 400

I use the smaller brother - audiphile, and had issues with 4pin connection with it ever since, but after getting pcmcia with TI (just to make sure) it works wonders.

im out to buy that 6pin thingo will make sure its TI
i trust m-audio since im using their card in the studio and is working flawless and also tried the fast track pro and was working great and really hard to find something that is giving so much for this price
will update how it goes

Yes my friend has also had problems with 410 and his firewire chipset. So its vital to get the TI one.
Also I personally think that although the fast trackpro is good value for money, for some reason it puts out colder signal than all other external soundcards... I am pretty sure this is the case. |

ok ordered the Lycom pc 101
it has the TI chipset
1 out of 15 shops i asked/check online the other chipset must be very cheap
now need to wait probably week or 2 goddammit

maybe noobish enquiry .....
does the frequency range of the soundcard matter when ur picking up PCI?? ... or would you overlook this particular spec detail? Does the Freq range depend entirely on the monitors u choose?
i'm gonna be picking up a PCI soon ... maybe the Echo or Delta 66/44 ..... was wondering if i'm weighing the pros and cons correctly here!!

update on m story
i got the 410 now , and the pcmcia thingy , just to discover that i have express in my laptop! 
replace now takes some more time but it will be here soon
on my laptop with build in fw it didnt worked completly (i think there was some install problems..)
on friends laptop it works ok but with pops and clicks (no TI chipset either) so he cant preform with it tonight.
i will re-install windows and retry , as well will check on the TI chipset thingy once i get it , its my last hope for this card.. the good news is thats the known issue with this card so im pritty sure it will be ok

my Pc (desktop) has TI chipset and works really fine..the only thing i dislike about the 410 is that i cannot use the 4 inputs simultaneously, its either the mic inputs or the line inputs..so 2 inputs only |
