Great tip with panning of the hihat and snare.
do you pan the fx and stabs or should they be dead center? |

What is your techniques and tricks to mix your leads?.
Sometimes especially when i try to achieve a super fat lead i struggle with getting it to stand out and really fit well in the mix.
How do you conquer these problems?.

could be two things: maybe there's other sounds competing for the same space in the spectrum, in which case it's a mix problem - or choices/rearrangements have to be made. could be that the sound has a lot of dynamics in which case a healthy dose of compressing or limiting would do the job. other times all you need is a touch (or a bunch) of saturation/distortion |

Actually i mix my Kick and Bass at -3db...
cause im used to visually work with gain at that range, i know its about hears...but im a very visual guy...soo most of the time i use my eye to set things up, EQ,and soo on...and my mix sounds good. Of course i use my ears, but im very visual indeed, soo when im setting a Gain for my leads, i set them at specific level that i know will sound ok by eye...
Dunno...i just have alot of difficult to trust in my ears, everthing is very relative for me...what is good for me, can be bad to others, and producing for many hours can get u "used" to your track, so u must take some breaks to fresh your ears and listen what actually is not sounding good

you make goa and set your kick at -3? where are the peaks when the melodic climax sets in, +8?
i put my kick at -15, the bass even lower and end up at -7 to -3... |

on a different note, I downloaded the stem pack of Borgeous And DavidSolano - Big Bang, for some edm analysis.
a good stem pack in my opinion.
the intro/outro kick is on -8 and the drop kick -7.30db.
they reduced everything into 7 channels. I think that all the levels are on spot.
to me it's a free complete mixing lesson. |
