yea better make your own kickdrums. it fits much better with your bassline than any sample you will use...i think.

i make my kicks with bassizm. i really like it cause its really simple to make your own kickdrums...after tweaking it i do some eq on it.
not much boostin really...i take down few db in the 350-500 range...boostin little bit in the 100hz -120hz range and in the 1000hz-1200hz range...and please dont only use this numbers...it varies from kick to kick, but usually this frequencies get cut or boosted.

hope it helps you little bit and dont forget, every kick you make will get better

now go and make your kicks man           http://soundcloud.com/iamdelic/w-a-d-vap-gr

Bazzism is nice, really nice.
At least now i have some good potato sounding kicks..

@Jaadoo: How does they sound thin? i mean i had to kill some low Freqz. because my speaker had to move an amount of air that killed the mid Freqz. What do you mean with thin?

i like bazzism, especially when you split the low freqz. away and put a little bit of a DISTORTIONNNZ on the mids

Try to recreate a sample that you like with Bassizm and processing, then you'll see what I mean. There are some frequencies which are just weak. You can't add frequencies by EQ or Distortion. I miss the beef in it. ;-)

i didn't like samples thats why i make them with bassism now...but maybe you mean a sample from pro tracks? yea comparing these two the bassizm sounds thin...but not so thin that it sound bad in my opinion.

just sounds different.

there are some producers i think they use bassizm and their kicks sound great...psilocybian use it sometimes i think.

and layering the wanted frequencies from the sample you like doesnt help you to make it sound nice?           http://soundcloud.com/iamdelic/w-a-d-vap-gr

Probably you can get it better by layering some bass to bassizm. I haven't tried it yet.

I find what helps to get a kick really hitting hard is the right kind of compression. I have had a lot of luck with getting kicks to hit hard using eq followed by a feedback compressor then a good limiter.

I have seen a bit abotu what kind of limiter to use (adaptive), but have good results using loudmax vst. Can't afford an adaptive limiter at the moment.

Bassizm has had an update, looking forward to tweaking this weekend. newsletter reads

Many users praise BazzISM as the perfectly clean kick drum.
Others say it's too clean.
For these BazzISM 2.4.9 has a noise section (including filters).

A bit of noise brings colour to your kick drum sound.
Just like the new option to select a more exponential decay, noise may lead to a more "natural" sound.
Of course the noise section can be used to create sounds like Claps or HiHats. Like in this sample sound. 100% BazzISM 2.4.9 - no extras, no FX.

Bugfix:
The wave display consumes less CPU power when the sliders are moved.

I can't believe this thread carried on till 2013 and now I"m dragging it into 2014.

Ages ago (2006! http://forum.isratrance.com/the-mother-of-all-kick-drums-thread/page9/) I posted a Reaktor synth I'd made here. I foolishly subscribed to the thread and have a billion reminder e-mails from the site.

Anyway - after posting that I had a bit of a think. And then developed another version in MAX/MSP.

And finally, twenty thousand lines of code later, this: http://www.credland.net/bigkick/

Which has nailed it for me once and for all. If you try it and it doesn't do what you want drop me a note and I'll get it fixed
