look like the way you did was similar.. checked the session but dont have the reverb we used back then to check his setting  . logic gate sidechain was used.
i uploaded a bounce of beat if you wanna get a listen ..it s very subble when the beat is playing but it add something. ( with the gate sidechain it create a groove) you better tweak these stuff on cans and check back on monitors maybe.
it s old unmastered tune , rought mix bounce is not amazing but you get the idea..

Anybody know a good audacity tutorial for kickdrum sculpting? Most the audacity tutorials are on the total basics level, I have not seen any on how to do stuff like sculpting kicks and work with multiple envelopes. |

lol i did second guess that to be fair - ive turnd it down a touch, you deffo right, i wont upload it touched down as u can imagine in your ears the difference - but i gues thats a good starting point reference of less or more.. i spose thats one way to use it..u could experiment fancy for a more slower progressive tune "u kno that suction from sidechaing the verb" similar to what u done..for fx than a mixing tool
glad that bass ok as ABL2 always gives u plenty of Eqing to do..

there is a track from the Mad Hatter (smoker) over in the workshop that is a good example of coating the whole spectrum in reverb - we had a discussion that it maybe muddying up the low end...

i like when lot of reverb too, like some soldschool techno.. give that rave hangar sound/ feeling.. but can easily mess the mix and yeah it s more used like a fx than a subtle enhancer.
i was experimenting a little bit.. i almost made a subbtle hihat on top of the kick attack out of a gated mono reverb , bypassed it sounded more rought, not as lush/commercial.. but dont like much the very hyped commercial sound for psy and it go into that direction big time with the lush factor the verb can add to the kick.. have to experiment more, but reverb on psy kick can defienelty have his place as a polisher , hyper, adding depth,groove ect.. |

yes defiantly mate it either works or it doesnt - is great to use in a controlled manner FX wise, with intention and incentive rather than just thrown on to cover up nasty harmonics that u shoulda delt with rather than ""covering""...
and i spose Techno structure gives alot more space to do this kinda thing more boundary pushing,, unlike a Twighlight (Javier Martinez) kind of track his arrangment of different reverberated fx blow my ears away - it was Psy like that i use to hear that inspired me to wana make it....
going off the topic I think the first album i ever bought was From Organic records "Invasions From Hyperspace" the overall feel and spirit of pure Psychedelic music is what i miss completely rather than just roboticly made with no Emotion to it |

Kick and bass is my biggest weakness.Havent done much to it just a few houres and more into writing story so far, very dirty mix so far, i will delete a few notes also. Any tips and critics are useful and welcome.Its fast 152 bpm. Dunno maybe I try another kick n bass sounds so muddy. Kick is actually very subtle with verb, it just a different colour than without verb.

I build a new kick from scratch now in Ultrabeat. I tighten up the filter for the bass and now the bass sounds a lot better but the kick sucks even more now, so I muted this motherfucker.
I used for bass this time just samples from slim phatty that Psylocibian offered for the comunity here a while ago. These I packed to sampler. Never build a bass like this so far - with samples and sampler.
I got a few comps here and there: softube fet, logic fet comp on kicdrum, logic vca comp on the group and and the native logic eq's.
Actually i just want to write first before really mixing, and make atleast a nice pad and get a gated reverb snare, but it sucks when the fundament sucks damn.

I did not mean to make it from scratch IN Audacity, I mean to readjust its envelopes to make it sound good. I have like 5 kicks I do not use just because I know what I need to change with them but I cannot operate the sound editors in the way I want. |
