Hipass on the bass is very important.
an a lowcut as well.
every sound and instrument gor there own spectrum of frequencies. and thats what keeps the sound clear...

The truth is in Alien 303 vst...

alien 303 sound very good and its easy to use.
but he is very dominant in the midle frequencies.
compared to trilogy it sounds to flat..

(and not necessarily in that order)

Basstation is a wierd synth and we use it for bassarpeggiomelodic thingies, quite recognizeable on a lot of or tracks.

TB-303 is, no matter what other ppl thinks, the best basslinemachine. We use it all the time, if only for a extra "bwau" hehe

Virus could be altered with any similar synth like Vanguard or albino, but theres something about it....

Sidstation is a unique sound great for deep and dangerous basslines. Also good for drum n bass.

Hi there!

How would you use 303 on a tune to make a baseline?? i have tried several virtual synths but no luck at all? any advice very welcome.

take a clean saw wave and play with the attack, decay and filter.
it doesent matter witch plugin u use.
it works with every plugin.
some sound better but the functionality its allways the same..

otherwise read the thread..

Hi

Yeah i read the thread..
I always get problems with clicking and when i get to a nice bassline and need to adjust lets say not lenghts to something else it might get fucked up this is what pissed me off so much..i guess it comes with practice..

i dont know if it is good practice to pump up the bass using all those compressors in early stages cause it might get screwed up later.. What do you think?

first try to make the bass as good as possible by only tweaking the synth...then (and only then), apply an eq (to cut disturbing frequencies; add a lowpass filter and perhaps a highpass filter) and only then even think about compression...

i often don't even use a compressor...sometimes you need one, sometimes not.

then try the alien 303. you will have some good results very quick.
there are a cuple of more or less good presets. made for psytrance ;-)

but you never will learn to make your own basslines this way...

To all the Logic 8 users that look for a synth to make the typical 16th trance sawtooth bassline: in case you did not know, in the included EXS24 instruments are the minimoog and the tb-303...no algorithms, but pristine quality sawtooth samples of the original synths

quadrafuzz function more as multiband compresor.
no low or high cut here, its not for the cleaning work of the freq, its more for stabling the sound

i use Cronox and Trilogy for the bassline
and filling it with more low and putting quadrafuzz to make a very freaking bassline:)
makaing a simple saw bass is not that big deal all you need is a saw oscilator a litle bit decay and you got yourself a nice jeucy bass:)
