All I ever hear are synthesizers, FX, samplers, various instruments from around the world, drum machines (this is the worst; always kick, snare, hi hat, shaker, crash, etc....BOR-ING), and various applications of the human voice (don't get me started on the abundance of psychedelic thinkers in psychill: Alan Watts, Terrence McKenna, Timothy Leary, Robert Anton Wilson, etc....I HATE those guys, and hearing them speak sends painful electric shocks surging up and down my spine) all arranged in a period of time! this is fucking SWILL! Artists should be making music with chipmunks, horseradishes, igneous rocks, and duct tape! things like that!

when are these TERRIBLE PEOPLE going to start innovating?! They can keep on fooling these pathetic fan boys with their works of sorcery, but not me! I don't listen to chillout for pleasure or to "chill", I need to constantly be challenged intellectually by abrasive music that no one else can understand but me!! Fakkk!!!!!

yes, i heard something about an artist called "Palindrome" and another called "Best Pizza Around" who are making some real groundbreaking shit. Also, they are currently on tour with legendary groupie, "justin time", who used to give handjobs to Boards of Canada!

Maybe u're not challeneged because you're not listening to the chalenging stuff inside the music? Of course I might be wrong, so don't take this too personally.

I just wanted to say that a sound, for instance a hihat, shouldn't give you an impression of no challenge. The way it was used would be a better place to look for a challenge, since blaming hihats for being hihats is unfair to the hihat... Same goes to Kick sounds and snare sounds, etc.

Its all in you, your ears perceive it as unoriginal, but a single sound can be the most original thing you will ever hear, you just have to know how to listen.

Blatherskite! I feel I've been more than fair to the hihat over the years, but it is a sound that has dominated this scene for long enough! anyone who enjoys hihats must have a lower IQ than me           http://soundcloud.com/rob-vector

Fear not! I am working on a project comprised solely of didgeridoo, power tools, a hair dryer, and a box of kittens. Soon the face of *whatever you call this particular genre* will be forever evolved!

Side note: Parody and sarcasm. Sarcasm and parody. These are your watchwords.

I used lots of hihats and snares...and alan watts too.
I am not original...so I must become famous then.

Well none of the other threads mention chipmunks or horseradishes. I think you've got the right idea!
