Hello dilated peoples!

I've gotta write...recently I've been to a spate of parties where the promoters are so blatantly pulling off the party for financial gain, its creepy.

Of course thats why they do it, but where did the magic of the party...or pride in promoting it go? At least cunningly disguise the venue with just a little decoration.

I feel the magic of a party starts to take hold when elements combine (music, deco, crowd, etc), and that takes effort!

I realise there's limited resources, extortionate venue fees and, and, but I'm tired of feeling like the spiritual aspect of partying is going and gone!
Know what I mean?
Psytrance should IMO paint a healthy psychadelic picture at parties, especially when merging with HardTrance or NuNRG parties - more than just adding a 'massage room'.
A colourful fantasia, a feast for the eyes even without drugs. A feeling of outerworldiness...

I know some promoters do put in real effort and we've had some great parties, but recently the *magic* was lacking...

Know what I mean?

i know what you mean pavi, its not just the party and the music its the all vibe...some of it just fade out....and i'll tell you the truth, i dont think it will come back...cus evrything is getting bigger and more mainstream, and money is all it matter this day, and not for the love of the music.           (-:"The Psychoactive Is So Powerfull

I guess you're right Asi, that old Goa-feeling is getting harder to find at parties. Maybe its high time to start our own.

You're too forgiving Jon! Nearly all parties will have good points, but there has been a clear lack of promoters' 'effort.' And that plain pisses me off and word should get around to motivate them to either quit or improve.

I just needed the rant and remind people that bad promoters should not be supported, but boycotted and 'voted out' by us democratic party folk (permament guest-listers excluded). Sorry about the politics, Mods.

I'm really looking forward to fairy-tales - Psytwins visuals should be great too!

but there is the other side to this - this is what is happening in clubland - wait until its summer and the parties outside start - not all the mainstream fancy treking for hours to find party in the middle of the welsh mountains etc..

I dont know if things are any bigger or more mainstream than when Goa was at its peak in the mid 90s (when there were Goa nights filling Brixton Academy)

I also think its harder to find "the magic" in London (or any big city) for lots of different reasons.

But one thing I have found is that the London psy-trance scene does seem to have more gossiping and intrigue than anyother scene I've ever come across and I'd be interested in why people think this is the case.

Don't know why you people are thinking in a negative way in looking at this scene ?.......

Its agreed that the decors at some parties may not be that psychedelic or so....possibly due to lack ot talented volunteers at the promotors side ! or possibly there is lack of funds to do things around.........!

What we should feel good is that there r still good promotors bringing in good artists and giving us a good night out !...instead of pointing out fingers on the promotors why can't we people bring out our hidden talents and help these promotors voluntarily in making the events a grand success !..... If every individual in this scene thinks in a negative way, there will be a negative spread of opinions for the entire trance scene happening in UK, and thats pretty bad !!!...

I too sometimes feel that the interiors r not that good enough.....personally speaking i haven't seen any good "PSYCHEDELIC SHIVA" decors in UK as much I have seen in India..!!! hahahaa........i love psy SHIVA...its dark and wicked man !....and it takes u ON for the FULL NIGHT !!!!......i wonder why these people haven't got hold of any ???

or possibly we should suggest the promotor to add some possible changes for his future events, like changes in decor, or interiors or lightings or any creative ideas ??

Ever realised how much effort and time it brings in to put in a party ! ?? and whats the payback to them ?

Just CHILL guys......say "HARI OM" ....take the CHILLUM AND take the first puff.....because the one who lights the first, gets hit first !!! BOOOOOOOOOOMM

The last thing I want to do is spread negativity, but I have to stand up for what I believe in, which is simply that effort is needed in putting on a good fiesta. Willinus - I can't see it as such an enormous priviledge to have parties in the first place, I want a 'hearty' party!

Ohm Nahmas Alec Shivaya and Bom Jovi etc...

So thats what i call in..........suggest the promotors....let them know at what fault r they....!! Let them know that they need to do certain changes in their working..else they will fall sick !!! ...............raise ur personal opinions and suggestions to them..!!!

Thats the best to do so........getting together in a single likeminded thought and pushing the UK trance culture into an extreme "HOLY" happiness........where u can feel a sense of freedom and joy !

my two cents,

i think part of what makes some parties "magic" is that it is actually not possible to guarantee that a party will turn out "magic" or not. even if everything is as it should be (or better) and the music is awesome, it is only occasionally that it all comes together to be an amazing and, dare i say it, transcendent experience.
also, the more parties one goes to the higher ones tolerence to the magic to an extent.. this is not cynical, it is true.. i do not look around trance parties with the same wide eyed wonder as i did five years ago, and i do not believe this is the promoters fault.           >>love will tear us apart...<<

hi pavi

I have to agree dude, I havent been to too many party's this year, but they have been showing a lack of effort on the side of promoters, I dont much care to point finger's at people but I am slowly becoming more and more particular about which party's are worth the effort, which is a bit sad for me as I always enjoyed the uk party for the standard of production and music, which was hard to find anywhere else, but it seems we are in a bit of a hole right now in all aspects of the party, so things can only get better we hope:)

Very true Tom, that magic is also there when you go out with no expectations and you're surprised. Surprised at the effort people have put in and the vibe they created.
I just want to see that effort put in...

Now wheres my pipe, slippers and old Goa brochures?

umm.. i sort of went through a period early last year of getting a bit bored with parties, but maybe years ago it was new etc.. maybe we are all going to many parties, or maybe (god forbid) were all turning into old farts:) i rekon once we all get outside for the summer everything will be better!

To a certain degree there's always the "it was better years ago" feeling (everyone's first year of going out whether that was 90,95, 2000 or this year - was always the best!) - but just when I get a bit jaded I'll go out and have one of the best nights I've had...

Another factor is the massive growth is large psy-trance parties in London over the last few years after a quiet spell. Three years ago - somewhere like the EQ warehouse would have been seen as a large venue - where as in the last year or two there have been periods when there is party every sat at the Rex as well as virtually every sat at the EQ plus other venues on top. There are only so many acts, crowds, decor (and braincells!) to go round - and these are bound to get spread thinly.

But these things are cyclical and people will vote with their feet and hopefully quality shines through.

Party goers should then realise the significance of a party.........judge it to themselves and make sure that they go to the BEST one !......and how do they choose the BEST one.....probably just by dropping down or probably by experience !!!.......cause now in UK, parties are always around th corner.....there r great artists coming and going...................people should choose the BEST one out and rate it the BEST !!!.....

Probably ratings would give the promotors some insight in what people actually look for in great nights..................Why don't we start our own ratings for promotors........lets put down our list and refresh our memories and rate the BEST one as THE BEST !!!.........all according to variations in decor, lighting, sound system, and the ambience, etc etc...!!!

Any feedback guys ?????????????????
