Why is it that the good releases go out of stock so fast? Why do the record shops not buy enough of them? Is it because they feel some sort of need to give equal attention to everyone? Is it that not enough copies are pressed to begin with?

I for one do not at all value the idea of a cd as a collectors item. If I actually go and try to buy something instead of pirate it, that is enough of a miracle.

If I go to buy it and it is out of stock at all the stores, you better beleive Im just gonna go and download it and feel pefectly justified about it too. Im sure as hell not gonna pay collectors item prices for an older release, or wait around just because there is limited availability of a new one.

That's my rant for the day

It looks to me in psyshop that it's periods where IE. PHONOKOL RECORDS will release a lot of old classics. I used to collect old Israeli compilation from the "old" days, and almost all of the old VA - classics was out of stock. When I now return, they have released 10-15 albums that I hungered for in the old days. So with patience, your fav. will properly get re-released again. An example would be this compilation series that has always been out of stock http://www.psyshop.com/shop/CDs/pho/pho1cd117.html

I wish they could re-release Sandman - Psycho Toons soon. They did re-release Witchcraft, so cooome ON! Release this as well will ya'h

But your proberly talking about new popular releases that goes out of stock to fast or something?

Both. It was new releases that got me talking about this (namely human blue and peakopath, which went out of stock at Saikosounds and psyshop at the same time) but also there are many classics that I have wanted to buy, but was unable to.

Don't worry, Psycosmo, these are going to be re-stocked.
The real problem is with releases that sold out, like the VA - Radical Simplicity. I would love to buy it, but I can't...

Dead labels do not re-release stuff, although distributors or wholesalers may have overstock years after the fact. Once a release is completely sold out, and assuming that it is not going to be reprinted, then the artist and label have made the most of their venture. With truly OOP (out of print) releases I cannot see much of a problem with pirating what has sometimes been referred to as "abandontrance" (as in abandonwarez), but it is still frowned upon. Digital download shops could change this situation if they began to take a serious interest in expanding their back catalogue and lowering their rates for vintage material, but the drive is still towards the cutting edge, not the stories of the past.

The benefit of digital downloads is that you do not need to reprint old sold out CD's You simply make your old catalogue available digital.. More labels should try that.           http://www.peopleagainstpeace.net/

No worries, I found them at another shop... 2 bad for Saiko and Psy though, they really should do a better job with getting a large number of the GOOD new releases and maybe less of the more forgettable ones.

Because they dont order anymore as many copies as they used to order 2-3 years ago (not to say before that) from the good labels and good releases. You see since everybody out there started declaring himself a label manager and an artist there are 70-80 releases a month and the shops have to feature every new release in their catalog in order to be updated and keep up with the competition and sometimes even obliged to do so by the distributions who force them to buy cds from crappy labels that wont sell otherwise they threat them that they wont supply them at all or supply them later than other shops with the hot releases.

So in order for those 200 crappy labels to survive the rest 50 labels get fucked up.

Hope that this answers your question.           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

Here we go again... Detox ever hear the expression "Don't beat a dead horse"? Once and for all distributions don't force shops to carry anything. Prove me the contrary if you are going to spread disinformation.

i really dont understand your fear man... i mean obviously you place yourself and your label in these top 50 (probably top 1-9) good ones and as i understand it most of the "crap" ones are "dark" styled labels so i really dont understand how you think this will effect your sales. the people buying "dark" music would not have bought your releases anyways.
so maybe you should start placing blame somewhere else as to why your sales are dropping.
