I happen to receive quite a lot of demos in cd format for the label and even more requests to send a demo through the internet which i mostly refuse for various reasons.

Since i pay time to listen to the demos and give back a feedback i am very strange with the demo procedure between me and the artists, strange according to some artists at least.I always ask from artists that are interested to send their music to prepare a nice cd,make a nice paper with a short biography (who they are, releases, gigs, equipment they use, photo if available) and ofcourse include all of their contact details so i can get in touch with them. Some people like this idea but most dont and thats something that actually irritates me a lot. Also i ask them to include as many tracks as possible since i cant judge an artist by just one or two tracks,i can get the main idea yes but the more tunes the better for a label to understand the skills, style and ideas of the artist.

This is the way every serious label works on the market and i just cant understand why artists just ask me all the time to 'download my latest killer track from yousendit.com'.Every day i get 4-5 people wanting to send me a track from the net and i refuse most of the time (i dont yet have a fast internet line by the way) for many reasons. One good reason that i cant listen to the music at the moment i download it so not only i might forget to listen to the tune from my pc but probably i will forget who send it to me or discover that i never had his contact details from the beggining since he just pmed me through isratrance or just msged me through MSN.

I find the procedure i mentioned earlier (with the cd,biography and contact info) a better and practical one and since well respected artists like Logic Bomb,Orion,S Range,The Antidote,Silicon Sound and more work with me this way i cant understand why new and less known artists shouldnt work this way also.

So i got just one advice to give to every artist out there, make your music, see which labels might be interested in it and which labels you would like to release your music, prepare a nice package and send it,be sure that every serious label will appreciate that and will contact you sooner or later no matter what the feedback will be.

P.S By the way i got to apologise to many artists that send me demos the last three months and didnt received feedback yet or got it very late but i just moved to a new house and i am still waiting for my ADSL line to be installed so its a strange time for me and the label,in 20 days all will be fine so thanks for your constant interest and support           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!

You'll have to cut the huggybear to put the CD in the first place

haha good one!!!

yea detox i like the way u work around this thing...very proffessional..

allthough..as a normal upcoming artist or just a slightly talented psy geek dont u think its quite streneous to go through the complete procedure as u had described of making the entire cd with tracks and presenting it really well...i mean if ur gonna send it to only one label fine u mite as well put in all the effort and money onto the one particular cd what if you have to courier cds to various labels all accross the globe??? and worse even if u get totally rejected at all the places u sent it..

at such times dont u think the internet method is a better idea...u never know man...some guy sitting in japan might be making the best music you ever will hear...but he might not be too inclined to go through all the procedure as mentioned...but if he knows he could possibley send tracks on the net to labels and they actually consider it...think about the talent that will be discovered..not relating to one country am takin globally....dont u think that way more talent can be extracted and nurtured...

jes my thoughts..i still agree with ur way man..its nice n proffessional...!

*KC* nice topic man.!           Why Worry?? BE.........HIPPIE

Dont you also think that its a pain in the ass for a label manager to listen 10 new tracks a day?

The artists has to do his part the right way and the label has to also do its part the right way too,as simple as that.

The proper way is to compare the music you make with labels that release similar music and limit your list to 4-5 labels maximum,i mean you wouldnt send a track that sounds like Astrix to Digital Structures would you?You just filter out the labels that you think are working serious in the market and that you feel that you can trust your music to and just send these 4-5 cds away, whats that 10-15 euros? It worths all the money and effort if you ask me.And if you get rejected by everyone then next time make sure you send even better music so that you improve your chances, the feedback you will get from the labels will help you in discovering things that you hadnt noticed before like that strange bassline that doesnt fit there or that sample sound that everyone is using in our days and you should avoid using

The internet method is handy for the artists to send their music easier BUT if you ask me they get less chances to get noticed by a label since every day like i said before douzins of artists send their music like that and most of them 'Get lost in the translation' like a movie title indicates           Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!!
