Hey .. this question is to mostly Labels and producers, but was just wondering how they treated every demo they recieved.

Like the bigger labels like Hommega, Phonokol and Iboga and now the new one's like Exposure, Sundace and Trishula (just to name a few) must be recieving demo's by the kilo, and it must be hard to give a proper listen to all. Or is it? Is their any feedback about it?

What about people offering demo's to artists while their at gigs? Is it a pain, or most people are generally polite while doing so.

basically, how do you manage the demo's that come by. ?

The way demos are considered, in my humble opinion (hehe) is the main difference between a professional label, and a label running on the artists names and/or connections.           .

Yeah demos come like water .....
We listen to all the demo material that comes in, we also reply to all people sending in their demo material. It takes lots of time and energy to do this but I think this is the way to do it. A first listening is just to see if the music fits with our label profile, if it does we listen more closely.
then if we like it we will sign the artist , if we don't like it we also tell the producer and give feedback.
We never give any demo material away, not even to our label dj's. This is very important to us.
To have a good idea and opinion about a demo it is important to have the track in full length and proper quality, this is very often a problem when we get demos.
Hope this will give you an idea how we handle this @ trishula and ajana records.

Karma Cola: We receive quite a lot of demo Cds regularly and we do listen to all of them properly - to be honest, not always we have time to answer and give a detailed review to all of them, but we try at least It definitely has a sense to do it, we discovered and signed many new artists this way...           Out now:

Just out of curiousity, what is the rate of demos that some of you(label managers) receive?

If someone sends you a demo, just a blank cd with nothing, OR if its designed nicely with print and stuff..
Which gets more attention?           rulla runt bland mjuka kuddar
