Goblim,
what melodic trance are you talking about ?
who used which word? As far as I know, trance was melodic since the begining - and let's keep it that way

Well its mainstream over here in Japan.
As for me I would NEVER want to see, any psytrance artist on TV(although SUN PROJECT has already been on TV). I dont want the mainstream crowd coming to our parties. Ruining the good vibes we have.
Maybe seeing people like Paul Van Dyk would be good. But no psy trance artists pleasee!!!!!!!!

Trance is not mainstream. I don't see it in MTV.
Of course that it is getting popular, but not mainstream!
Like the Macedonian guy said, there are the big commercialized parties and the small private ones.
I guess that nobody wants it to get mainstream because if it will, bad people will come to parties. That's why there are the small private parties - to stay away from those people and have a small friendly community.
If people will stop listening to Trance just because it became mainstream, then you might as well leave this forum. Personally, I listen to Trance because I like this music (btw - right now listening to Club Trance, not because it's mainsteam but because it's good ), and I don't give a damn about how many people worldwide listen to the same music.
Artists are becoming commercial? You don't like what they are doing? Make music yourself.

PsyTrance : Mainstream is not.. a bit Popular yes it is.

Its not really underground those days. But there are some exceptions like small private parties as Mike says.

Anyway commercialism is everywhere these days you cant miss it( capitalism = commercialism )
About music i am with Mike , i will never stop listening something i LIKE even if that becomes commercialised. its about music and only music!
In the other hand commercial music usually lacks of quality, ideas and meaning..

So you define commercial as a genre?
Let's assume that the first goa artists (which has many meaning in their music) were actually doing it for money. Would it change anything?

Commercial music is not a genre , its maybe a kind of method producing music. People try to achieve certain goals in order to make music commercial. What iam saying is that usually when you force to achieve certain goals in order to be commercial and have great sales and be famous , the music USUALLY loses its spirit and originality soon.
But if first goa artists where commercial by not changing 1% their music , i will also certainly like them because their music was pionneer and incredible good for my personal music tastes.
Even if the big "name" Britney spears starts producing something i like it, i will not reject it ..music comes first and then the rest..
