well, i wanted 2 believe that trance is underground and will stay this way (naive i'm might say), but the day has come and reality exploded in my face.
my young brother , soon 2 b teenager, (10 years old) decided 2 have a party at home in memory of the ending school year. couple hours before the party started he came 2 my room and asked me 4 trance CDs .
he asked me if i have progress trance cuzz full-on is not really his cup of tea..(j/k)
bunch of 10 years old kids jumping up and down (no chewing gum though), it was kindda weird.

anyways,i'm proud cuzz the Doors were underground, the Beatles were not allowed 2 perfrom in israel. just look at their place in the history of music.
my vanity is that we r an active participants in the begining of the trance movement, in the basic foundation and the fights of the movments right 2 exist and prosper.

LET US ALL STAND PROUD AND KNOW THAT WE DARE AND BOLDLY GO WHERE NO POLICE MAN HAS GONE BEFORE (ask my mechanic,he fixed my car after some off road rides on the way 2 yet another happy party).

I can't wait for that day to come already......
Wouldn't you rather put on MTV and instead of the latest N'Sync song you could watch a kickass video by Infected or Son Kite?
Some of our friends here at the forum could work all day at making music instead of having to take a day job.
There is definetly some bad aspects to it but I will leave that to others           Both teams played hard

you know, Jason, day trance, as opposed to night trance

Trance is becoming mainstream (look at the amount of parties going on and how commercialized they are), or should I say, Trance has already become mainstream....

I like the thought that we're a small part of the revolution thanks Olli. Never thought of that (what a silly bunt...)

IMO, any musical style that has more than 2 adherents, is no longer "underground" by definition, but mainstream.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

Karnaf - you take Izrael only.
But pop is popular everywhere. Trance is popular (not so much like pop music but whatever) in some countries. But in other 80% of the world people don't listen to trance as much as in Izrael. That's it.           The Future is Here Now ENJOY

trance isnt mainstream yet !
but i saw here a thread that asked how to make pepole love trance like we do .
if we try to get every one into the scene then it would become mainstreamy .
i hope that will never happen
keep it underground (as much as we can)

Well, Maxim Kai - I stand corrected. Maybe I should move to a place where it is still underground. I liked it better that way

i'm with maxim, you guys happen to live in perhaps the only country in the world where (psy) trance is very popular, in the uk it doesn't even get reviewed in the music press, despite the fact there are 4 (dj, muzik, mixmag, ministry) if not more monthly magazines devoted to dance culture. yeah come to england if you want it still underground, but not so underground that nothing ever happens           >>love will tear us apart...<<

I might take up this invite, Tom
Well, it's not all mainstream yet - but it's getting there fast enough. CD reviews in the daily newspapers are still about MTV / Rock / Pop music and nothing about Trance CDs. Trance parties are still illigal (well, not because of the music...). But saying you're a Trance fan is nothing to be ashamed of ( ) anymore. Most ppl will not think you're crazy if you say that.           Please REMOVE my cellphone number from any SMS spam list you may have. Thanks.

try living where i live, Perth - Australia!

its so underground its not funny,

1 small party a month (if where lucky), thanks to Namaska:) otherwise we'd probably have nothing.

a few years ago we had Mark Allen here for a dj set and Cosmosis for a dj set both in clubs.

i dont think that Psy will ever catch on here.

bom!

well all u guys are sitizens of big countries which actually does not make very big difference but anyhow...in macedonia there is an existing trance scene both comercial and underground.the comercial one is in the capital where many famous dj's and bands have played music but all those big parties are so stinky with advertisments on tv or so...i really don't know anyone that doesn't know sun project or astral in the capital no matter he/she listens or does not listen to trance.these huge club parties are really sad
but there are smaler parties that are being organised abroad not in the capital which are amazing.there are very small towns in macedonia with amaizingly good trance scene where the music and the parties and the people and everything is different and beautiful with a true trance vibe and energy...
i know this is a case everywhere and that this is familiar to all of u but what i'm trying to do is to point out that trance will always stay underground:imo as long as the parties and the music is getting comercialised there will be a stronger kind of contra movement that will push this culture to what it should be.
before everything used to be one but now there are 2 or more where one of them is the influenced and scrued up and the other is caused by the revolt from the first one which forms the underground trance scene.i'm sure u all have noticed that even the music played is totally diferent on these 2 types of trance parties or movements, and spirit and the atmosfere is absolutely different ofcourse.
so it is up to us whether we want to choose the one or the another(the fake or the real)trance scene!
so i think the underground trance WILL NEVER DIE!!!!           Why u little !!!

Of course, if it sounds as it sounds today, but not if hit has been commersialized (like, added cheesy vocals, bad sounds, stupid melodies etc.)

Look at the "melodic" trance scene, they have simply used the word trance and ruined it till its death.           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

IMO trance is in the proccess of becoming mainstream... most artists aren't mainstream yet tho (except Infected Mushroom and Skazi maybe...)
