the connection between trance & ambient

i always thought why trance & ambient are related to each other
think about it, trance is mostlu hard, pumping & jumping music, played a lot in parties
but ambient is the opposite, quite, relaxing music
the only connection i see between the 2 genres is that are music only, not music with words...

they are both electronic music mostly.
And its not only ambient and trance that are connected together,its also chill out,house,club trance,progressive and many many more styles.
All these styles have some simillarities because of their way of being produced and thats why they are so close related

both psychedelic
ambient is the more subtle and relaxing side of trance. both styles share elements, kinds of sounds etc.

ambient can be psychedelic (like every thing in our life..include wife or dog laugh [on bog of course]) but most of it NOT..

yeah , i think too that chilling music will be more listened in the future ... but ... ambiant could be created without electronic influences ... so it is not true (in my opinion) that the connection is in the electronic.

i aggree with traveler.
Chill out and Ambient music is the future.
People got bored of that bang bang music and need something to relax.
They are already having enough stress and noise from their everyday life so when they return home they need something relaxing

Ambient can be psychedelic, but doesn't have to be.
U can hear ambiant closer to house, ambient closer to drum & bass.
It's just electronic music, but unlike most electronic music that makes u "hyper", ambient relaxes u.

Maybe coz the begining of trance is linked with ambient.
If you consider that euro-trance led to goa which evoluated to psytrance etc...
You have to ask yourself which was the premise of euro-trance.
I remember that the answer of this question was called "Space" a musical english orientation at the end of 80's by some people.
And there's one group which represent as well this new musical trend and the connection between trance & ambient: KLF (under all ther numerous alias especially 'Space' one).
You can check easily for example their maxi called "Last Train For Trancentral" (91) or even consider their album "The white room"(91).

nah i don't agree travller, its all about taste. i think that both genres will go on to the future. but, we can't know yet so we'll see

ambient is a future ?? dudues, ambient was before trance... search for the one and the only ambient master Brien Eno and see his releases back to 1985..
