i've been in chill areas/rooms where the dj was sitting down, and where the dj was standing up, and i gotta say: the chillout DJ needs a chair! its a totally different vibe; when he's standing, the room feels so anxious...like I should be uncomfortable too, or something like that. But when he's got a big comfy chair, a mysterious book of cd's in his lap, and a big smile on his face, I feel so much more....um...chilled out.

thoughts?

It should be a mandated standard in all chillout rooms/events throughout the universe.

I also prefer sitting, when I`m playing. It`s more chilled out
At least there should always be the possibility for sitting.

P.S.: I like the idea of Wombatmusic

I would like to play in the chill spaces (the really chill ones) sitting on the floor, possibly between the audience and not on a stage...carpets and pillows...chai and fat joints are essentials.
Once I saw a dj playing behind the chaishop, while he was doing chai and cooking...I found it brilliant...

Womb...you kind of shitting in the dish where you are eating....without the so hated hippies there would be no chill spaces and no parties probably.
if your friends feel intimidated by a nice sharing atmosphere they should go back to discos and clubs where they feel more comfortable holding their drinks and feeling cool hanging out.
I am totally up for more variation and dancy tunes in the ALTERNATIVE/CHILL stage, infact I usual don't play any chill in the chills...but when I do I feel comfortable to be part of it instead of looking at it from above the stage.
I feel alienated in most of the places where I go clubbing...pls let us keep our little oasis...and if someone feels outcasted maybe it is HIS problem...he is more than welcome to let it go.
jeeez....can't even make a shanty post anymore without being attacked.

whatever m8...I don't feel hit at all...I just think you have a yuppi attitude and you should stop to offend ppl like hippies (and I am not a hippy)...who try to do something different from the usual entertainment....and let us drink chai and smoke bongs...for god sake....if u like wine and sexy chiks go to a disco bar instead.

Bla Bla Bla..........

hey! wombat, you do very boring posts everywhere,,,

what i feel trough the virtual world is a guy wiht some bigheads orientation.
... that fine for me

last year into summer festivals was a good mix of styles,
many peoples play differents styles everywhere ,

Boom fest was super open style (for exemple), from funky Herbie Hancock to Solar Field ...

So, wombat, good luck for your music and see you soon somewhere in europe.
summer Festivals maybe ?

Erm...the above discussions are so utterly that I'll leave it just like that 'til I leave my astonishment behind.

Back to the topic...It depends.

If it's in a loungey bar...of course you need a chair...otherways you feel tempted to go pumpin'.
If you're playing in a Shanty environment like an openair party or so...well, bring on the couch again.
Festival alternative area where the music or the vibe is not so shanty...it's obsolete
