I agree with you Justin...if I am standing up I feel very tempted to pump it up and "break" the chill.
Moreno, you are a real maratona man...you are a monster of resistance...full respect.
I admit that once I felt asleep with my headphones on while playing sitting on a chair....this is why I prefer to be on the floor...can't fall down from there           "There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain will never improve, and that's here." Aldus

In my favourite location I always play sitting on a bar chair, which is perfect. U deffenitly stay awake, coz it`s not so extremly comfortable, but it is comfortable enaugh .... and I played 6-7 hours in a row sitting on the bar chair a lot of times ... for me the best

I once saw aphex twin play (although not chillout) - however they brought out a couch for him and a coffee table that was of the same height of the couch. He came in and lay down sideways on the couch and started playing music though his midi controller. He seemed very comfortable.

chairs while djing no thanks - i'm the with maux - if sitting then in the middle of the crowd on cushions and stuff.
started djing in a lounge of a 4star hotel with a big terrace with spectacular views. everywhere speakers - even in the toilets and garage....all the peeps are sitting in chairs or couches and i'm standing my 5hours and playing ambient, dub and psychill to this crowd....and i'm the only one moving expect of the peeps feets under the tables...and i'm lovin' it..

Sofas and chairs are only for the after party @ my house.
4 Mixing i need my all body not just my hands...

I hate to play on a chair, my back will start screaming after the 1st hour, and the phisical motivation to mix will be gonne soon...

i am with entalamoska....i play ambient for many years now and nothing annoys me the most when i arrive t a chill out and voila theres a big puff for me to work...for the people who are enjoying i find a little bit selfish that they want a sitted dj for their delight meanwhile our backs ,our legs are hurting and our concentration is gone.....i hate this i am working not" laureating pevides"is like the other point that you are a chill out dj you are less payed, people feel in his rights to talk to you in the middle of the dj sets and a lot of other craps that diminute the WORK of a dj......usually in techno and house and what you people call mitras scene i never saw this ,people used to respect more the ambient djs or live acts

and that story that a chill out is more beautiful with a sitted dj is bullshit.......a chill out is more beautiful without thrash, posers, frustrated wanna be trance djs and of course people taking drugs with eyes shut

but of course next time i play i will manage some dread locks to be disguised of so i can compensate all of those who feel unconfortable with a stand up dj

ah and a t shirt saying leave your LEGOS AT HOME

AND ONE MORE THING THIS IS TO YOU MAUX WHEN YOU SAY THAT YOU FELL LIKE BREAKING THE CHILL WHEN YOU ARE STANDING UP....WELL FOR ME THATS THE POINT ARE PEOPLE IN THE CHILL FOR THE RIGHT REASON?OR THEY WOULD PREFER TO PLAY DANCE MUSIC?????FIND YOUR TRUTH AND YOUR FLOOR

haha, shouting is far from chilled.

Just curious as to what is the "right" reason for being in a chillout?

I seriously would prefer a nice ergonomic chair and a desk at the proper height on stage. Dub masters such as Mad Professor mix while sitting down in front of a large console all the time and it's never made me feel like he wasn't giving it his best when having paid to see him live. But I'm only speaking from an artist perspective.... you DJ's can hash this thing out all you want.

For me it's an alternative to "in yer face" music           http://www.chillumafia.com
