i think lots of people do it with c6/c4. i did it also some years back. actually i used the c6 as the sidechain compressor. heck that was a desaster.. though sounded good in the end but was tweaking almost days at the attack and release times,

but also recognized that the wrong settings can totally kill your bassound. and sometimes (cause of the Cut offs of the diffent bands) depends on the note if it works or not.

somebody used Waves Trans X Multi on bass? that was my goto helper yesterday. but i dont use it anymore on the newer tracks. same problems with cut offs, but mostly good result if you bypass the 2 lowbands... sometimes the cut of the transx even benefits the basssound...

Yeah, at least I had a chance to stumble upon it before, one now famous artist from my country was using it&C4 before to nail different kind of bass sounds and I have a feeling that's still in his chain today for that bass that is mentioned here from time to time.

Oooh yeah, this thing is nice, at least JS version in Reaper, whatever it does, it sounds nice, easy to over-do-it tho...

Me too, I get to the point where it just sounds weird and over-cooked, melting plastic or smth

lately in the chain bass i don't use a eq only a clean saw wave ,compresor, quadrafuzz & sidechain, upshot rolling basslines. if you need more movement a mutiband dynamic.

about the kick I had found better kicks from 55hz to 65hz.           d(((+_-)))b

Yeah, 4th or 7th, that is most often that 60hz-ish area, that really works better.

It fits, at least in my mind and I know you will make it work even more as part of story, right now it works good with that sound, it's sneaky somehow

Yeah, it have some nice bite to it, sounds promising, bass is part of trip, not just, "look there is bass in this madness", no, it's part of story, it's something more than a bass, can be creature, monster, who knows what you visioned and what you will do

listening to the clip on another system , im not going to run the kick through the fx - i need to lower the side seems abit wet and slappy in the highs with the kick running through it (tantra on the side channel)..
