Cubase also had a nice student package. But the problem with that one is that you can't upgrade it.

Well that was what it said when he got it. They might upgrade it anyway as they want to keep people using cubase. He got cubase 5 so maybe it is a new thing that they didnt use for cubase 4.           soundcloud.com/supergroover

The problem with the student version of Cubase is that you have to be a student in a "Steinberg-approved" studying something which is related to music production.
Regular students studying other stuff can't get it.

High Pulse idk how out of the loop you have been or if you ever use Synth1, but there was a recent update to 1.12 and i put a link up in case japanese isnt your parlais http://www.mudpeople.lsdxm.com/VST%20PLUGINS/Synth1V112.zip Affordable cuz, its free

also second PoM recommendations, tho i havent personally had much use for Sylenth (yet). Zebra tho, that thing has my soul... No really, I lost track of it, a few weeks ago, tweaking and messing with stuff, adding FMO here, Shape there, VCO and maybe another all over there.... Then i look around, and no soul....

Fair trade

Also, since this IS about affordable good software its On Topic that I mention my favorite DAW in all the world of warpclef, the 50 euro-to-Mars Cubase-with-FastTracker2-mask-on....

RENOISE TUH RACK UHHHH www.renoise.com, full function demo minus render and iirc ASIO, but come on, is 50 euro too much for ASIO, 32 bit (64 in the works i guess) FP render, and your name on the splash screen? Also a built in version of essentially the Glitch, with aid and code from dblue himself, that silly guy with his silly toy who sillily uses silly renoise...

Also honorable mention goes to COckos Reaper, 4mb full functioning demo (with nag, but 64 bit FP render at highest sync at 5x realtime, me gusta), so far its good for mixing down stems, 50 tracks of variousmono/stereo with less than half the CPU used, tote mo dai suki Even if I cant yet out stems at, or really need to even be using, 64 bit FP, why not if its no slower than 5x realtime. Also outs pretty much any filetype of any bitrate/depth, of course more compressed filetype = longer out.           .

In case there's anyone here who likes the plug-ins from D16 Group, there's a group buy going on which ends on June 15th (can't remember the last time that happened). A good opportunity to complete your SilverLine collection, isn't it?

Purchase any plug-in from the SilverLine Collection to join the Group Buy promotion. The Group Buy counter will increase each time any customer purchases a SilverLine plug-in. When the number of participants reaches the next level, you will be able to get the SilverLine effect of your choice for free!
