Texas Faggot are Tim Thick & Pentti Slayer.
All Tracks by Texas Faggot except 14 by Hidria Spacefolk, arranged by T. Thick

From the cover, you immediatly taste a strong potential coming out this album, checking the tracklisting & discovering 14 tracks you compulsorily feel curious about it.
Listening to the tracks you understand a concept of diversified & hard real psychedelic trance where you can get much more ideas & build up,madness or energy in a 3’30 Texas Faggot’s duration track than of 8-10 minutes from most of trance producers.

Track 1 : Hard twisted effect on the lead to start this track, the tone of the album is already given. Then the melody to progress it’s without counting on some major throwing up & down effect & some agressive tones. This first song isn’t the most easy to start with, it’s quite confuse but it’s completly the Texas faggot musical universe.

Track 2 : More happy& funny atmosphere now, still fast & kickin, the tune is based on a shrill evolving lead.

Track 3 : Slighty sour – bleepy & highly bouncing melody associated with gloomy lead in the background & warm bass but less fast than previous.

Track 4 : crazy speed for this one, the rythmic is near by moment from drum n’ bass, very nervous melody with kinda traditionnal indian flute part then on the end a traditionnal violion theme (makes me think about canadian music).

Track 5 : here the melody is a sort of electronic twiterring, the rythmic also by the way.

Track 6 : darker ambience, the tempo has slown down comparing to the previous one. Later on the melody seems to coming out from an harp lead imitation.

Track 7 : A very fast melody from a flute lead acompagnied with a crazy rythmic which botls since the begining.

Track 8 : a 303 line opens this one, the rythmic makes me think to some Big Beat productions, lots of metallic tones very jerky then a more funky furious melodic lead happens married with a gurgling bassline.

Track 9 : some kinda dj scratches for beginning, then a remaining mutant voice all along lets place to a jerky organ coppled later first with a guitar wha-wha then a funky riff & a final clash all toghether.

Track 10 :a weird intensive acid rain falls over this one.

Track 11 :something more calm at first, a sample of people making kinda exclamations like if were on roller coaster remains nearly all allong . In the middle you got an ambience that could be apparented to Country but it changes suddenly into completely cyber-robotic soudscapes. Some men voices triturated looking like cows mooing.

Track 12 : opening on a sharp voice singing ‘ahahah’ here all is aboout voices which are transmuted in leads, you got a psychedelic singing choral by moment.

Track 13 : a soft carillon rings then the tune reminds me a Coldcut track ‘Atomic Moog 2000’ indeed 70’s spirit fast & furious funkadelic theme like a tv american police poursuit Starsky & Hutch alike.

Track 14 : is about acoustic guitar melody detuned, not my favorite on the album.

Highlights:3,4,9,11,13

A fucking good concept album that unbolt !

Mark :9,5/10 (of course this album is for experienced people : those whom enjoy REAL psychedelic trance)

From the first attempt at bassline effect (which is horribly distorted, some will say on purpose...) on the first secod of this album (?) till the last screaming note of Lone Star, this one is again at attempt to show the world that no one understand true art.

I actualy forced myself to go through this one, teeth barred and keeping convincing myself that they desrve the listen.
Aside from "Blue Light Special", which has some deepness and structure in it (again, only until about 2.5 minutes where it goes completely bezerk), all of the tracks here sound the same - similar sounds (the old 303 sound, no matter how you try to discuise it, kick sounds and bassline structures from 1991-2), same breaks and line-changes (and they say the Israeli buildup-release is expected...), combined with amatourish sound production. TF dont bother with intros, they just slam into business of fucking your mind as hard as possible - a competition of 'who's got bigger balls' and takes more acid, 'who's the most fucked-up person on the dancefloor' type of aproach to music.
There seem to be a great deal of nostalgia in TF music - it really sounds like it stands in time while the whole trance world develops new sounds and production methods.

I know that TF has build up a fan-base of hard-line devoters who will adore this release (as anything that comes out of TF studio), but I believe that Spuge trance (what we call "Suomisoundi" or "sound of finland") deserves a better representatives than the above pair.

Many claim that this is high art - like Picasso - too abstract and surreal for 'normal' crowd. I still believe that art has to be also understood by everybody (not just the hardcore critics who rate 5 stars movies that nobody every watches...).

So, if you like Suomisoundi or goa trance from 1990, this is definately a CD for you.

Hello Helen,

i entirely respect the fact you dislike Texas Faggot music.

But i'm wondering if you perfectly know that they aren't doing your kind of sound, why are you buying the album ? strange no?
was it necessary to be so insultant in your words towards TF fan's, isn' t that a bit of free-wickedness ?

Btw Texas Faggot is making Psychedelic music according to me & not goa. Furthermore Goa seems to be born in spring 94 & not 90-91-92 like you're saying.

About Intro, be clever, how could you make long intro in a track if you're doing a concept album fill in with short tracks?

The one thing i agree with you is that TF's music is not dedicated for the mass market, & i told it in my review by mentionning 'for experienced people'.

I hope we don't start a debate "Helen vs Suomisoundi" again, since I really dont have anything against this style (except for personal taste) and I think its important that it exists and develops in the psy-trance world.

But for your questions, I didn't buy it, but got it as promotional material from Exogenic. I'm really waiting to get the promo for the new Accu album, though...

I don't believe that I insulted TF fans, only said that usualy they are accepting everything that comes from TF as heaven-sent 10 comandments, and you can see it through many replies in various forums.

And Goa existed also at the begining of the 90s, but OK, 94 if you like - it is still the same.

And about the intro work - very important (for me) part of a musical piece, it leads the listener into the body of the track, and has nothing to do with length of the track nor conceptuality of the album. its simply missing from most of the featuring tracks, and it kinda bothered me.

Firstly A, if you don't wanna start an argument, why don't you just stick to talking about the music, rather than making gross comments about the people who like it?

This could be said of most "full on" music as well in terms of coming up with new sounds - I hear different artists using the same sounds as others in many different facets of the trance world.. I think that the production levels of the music these guys write is improving. Sure they're no G. M. S. but that doesn't bother me

I like this album. I think it's groovy as fuck. I'll give a more detailed review when I get my copy           new Hadal Drop album on the way

Good album... but I have to say I expected more... For me it lacks some melody and structure in certain parts... but hey, that's what these guys are about. Production quality is pretty good though... sounds alright.

Best track: Who Needs Koneisto... 4, 5, 10, 14 - also good

Helen: "it really sounds like it stands in time while the whole trance world develops new sounds and production methods."

Hehehe... I couldn't disagree more...           How am I supposed to hallucinate with all these swirling colors distracting me!

Yep...

A great record. 9/10 i would say. It is intensive and brilliant in its own twisted way.

Many people wouldn't agree on helen's "it really sounds like it stands in time while the whole trance world develops new sounds and production methods." Then again many people would. ..
I personally think that stating that the whole trance world develops new sounds and production methods sounds quite funny. If thats the case, then where is that new great sound that the "trance world" is developing? Maybe it is still under "development and production" hre hee hheee...

Maybe sometimes it is about the music. If its good it is good. And lets face it. Most people who talk about "production quality" don't even know what it means. Maybe this record isn't aimed for the nφtsδs. But real music lovers.

I think the reason for helen's surprisingly "personal" way of disliking and dissing the record lie somewhere way way deeper. Maybe in the Finnish forrest???
What REALLY happened there... I wonder...
It can be traumatic experience all & all...

Now I am getting too freudian again... About the record... Its supoirb... And having just last weekend witnessed Texas Faggott & Mandalavandalz rock the party live in Japan... They FUKKIN ROK!!!

hee hee hee

i agree with you that TF didnt change at all throughout the years, but you have to throw the "new sounds" into my face before i believe this sentence. it was kick ass review helen, funny sentences

i didnt hear this album yet, also i'm not a too big fan of the suomi sound, but what i've heard now i found refreshing and pretty bruising.
even if TF's sounds are overused as well, its cool to have something standing out from all the sterile and free-of-sickness psytrance today.
i will give it a shot soon.

Alright, there's been some vicious rumours flying around about this one, so I thought I'd squash them right here.

1. Texas Faggott have sold out & are now righting formulaic tube trance.
False. It is my belief that Ari Linker invented this in order to divert attention away from how boring this album makes his music sound.

2. Texas Faggott spent too long in IsraHell & are now writing killah.
False. Despite a slight "straightening" of their sound, this album showcases musicality rather than how to make basslines & trippy sound effects.

3. Texas Faggott are now far more focussed on production quality.
False. Many of the tracks would prob'ly contain some fuzz or hum when played at extremely high volume & the synth sounds are nothing new.

4. Texas Faggott right kick arse music.
True. Many people will have you believe that these guys really rock. They do. This album proves it, as did the last & the one before that. Whilst it is a little more friendly for teh dancers than previous releases, it still retains that raw edge, not supplementing quality track writing for ease of digestibility. Most of this is great morning music for me, the highlight prob'ly being "Early Cry", but mainly because I already know it. Others of note are "We Will Not Return" (please say it's not true), "Sunkarma" & "Who Needs Koneisto (We R Homeisto)".

After my first listen I wanted to give this 9.5 outta 10, but it didn't stand up as well on further close inspection. Definitely worth 9/10 though           new Hadal Drop album on the way

I gotta tell you guys, that I'm from Finland and don't like this album at all. For me it's all ugly and reflects repressed sexuality (especially "Who Needs Koneisto?") and mental disorders these guys must be having after the lifestyle they've lived for so many years. I kinda like the sound of their Mandalavandalz project in the parties, because it's more positive, but this Pilluminati Cunt Roll is pure torture for me and many of my finnish friends. I hope these guys can see the bright side of life again some day.
