Well, there has been quite a discussion lately about the live acts / live sets and in general the way how the artists present their own music on stage. So, when we were with Tegma guys in their studio last week, we have decided to record a short video about their way of live performing. Although there are still a lot of ideas how to extend it in future, this is how it works for now and would be cool to hear what you think about that:

really nice to watch. I guess it looks very easy as they are relaxed in their studio, am sure when there are 500-10000 punters going off it is much more stressful. Hope they com out ot my country again soon

ps Astral, if you are not afraid to do the same, it surely takes you no effort ot make a 6 minute clip like this and it would shut us all up.

Tht was really nice. I always beleive that inorder to make a true live performance in electronic music u need to perform as a duo or more that many number of people. Its pretty much the same as to what good acts wld do... (counting off the ""press play dance"" live acts) ... with some good improvisation like with the Drum pads etc.... And tht Kaosillator.... wow tht was cool! Are those expensive ?

In any case.... Thanks for sharing this . Has given me some insight and im sure it would for others as well.
Thumbs up for this one.

really nice to watch how they do it, the scene needs more honesty from the artist and not just dancing infront of a laptop

I know a few that just stand there, not even dancing. Just like winamp playing tracks

yes and also winamp made the track
beside , i think eskimo is more ridiculous then winamp , atleast winamp dont pretend. and bout them ipods , goddamm its more stable then any other player includ fancy mac with ableton (which sometime do exacly what ipod does , playing something ready)

anyhow , i think this video is more cool then both
i wish to be able to afford myself to do what i can in the studio as well on the dancefloor soon

there's a bunch of new clips from Israel last year of Hallucinogen playing live there, damn amazing what he does live... and the gear on the stage, he is even tweaking the FX units etc.

Its great to see people like tegma doing a video to show how its done... but this is some really basic stuff people. It is not hard to do at all... Anybody with any understanding of Ableton live and MIDI controllers can work this out.

How come none of the "this isn't live" nazis comment about how one of them says "as you can see it's fully live".

If we really want to break it down it's not 100% live according to the live nazis because they still have pre-made loops that have been arranged into scenes and clips before hand. But this is pretty much the closest to live most people will get in electronic music.
And of course full respect!!

A new challenge would be to be performing and recording all their clips on-the fly live (in cue mode) then bringing it into the mix as a real live composition and arrangement. Starting from a blank palette except for Instrument and FX templates. That would be "fully live" but would also take an enormous amount of talent and instrumental skill.

Anyway I think this is basic stuff and rather than it be an exception it should be the norm. ESPESCIALLY with an act with two people.

@ Mesq
You're right by saying that this isn't "100% live", you have to excuse Jasons' English, what he means is that this is full live in the sense that the liveset is fully interactive and that we have control of the sequencing. A real live would mean playing live instruments etc, however were not the best keyboard players and with 2 guys this is what we can do at the moment, but there is always room for improvement and adding new stuff
