Brilliant. Cut out the middlemen. The record industry is filthy anyway.           "One nation under a groove".

Very interesting analysis there…

I agree that the cat is out of the sack now, and trying to fight it is like the war on drugs – you can declare war and oppose it all you can, but it won’t make the problem disappear. People will always get attracted to the most available solutions (in this case getting some type of information), whether because it’s the cheapest, most easily obtained or accessed, or both.

I guess that we will have to adjust if we want to survive in this step of evolution. If I again compare this issue to the drug problem, what Holland did was finding a creative solution to the problem, not by fighting it and making it illegal (hence creating more problems than actually solving any), but by adopting a solution that is acceptable by the target population.
This model I believe should also be applied to us. I can’t technically think about any yet, but I believe it would have to be of the same sort – working with the target sector rather than fighting it.

See you in the future!..

BTW - I highly recommend for you to read Bill Gate’s “The Road Ahead”, written in 1995 about his vision of the “Information Highway”, where he predicts the developments in Information science (where the Internet of today is only the first step).

I just checked out the much hailed ITunes pay-per-download service.

Coulden't find any psytrance...well okay.
Then I checked if I could download David Bowie's newest album 'Reality'. Not in the catalogue.
Hardly any trance or electronic music just the Mtv shit...

If it goes like this then suck it imo.

What do you expect Panzer? It's a very new store and let's face it... trance/ambient do not sell a lot compared to popular "commercial" music. But go back there in a few months and you'll see new sub genres such as electronic, trance, ambient ect. ect. Give them some time I am sure the Apple iTunes Store will be a great shop for the future !

Ehm no. It has been running for almost a year now but just now Europeans can have a sneak preview of what to expect. Its the US catalogue u can browse so its not that 'new'. I was just disappointed by whats available or whats not available. Besides, the bitrate of 128kbps AAC format is way too low.

They should offer monkey's audio as well (loseless compression, around 50%), for broadband customers.

Maybe I'm a little off-topic here...
Well, I believe that big labels (psy or not) just survive nowdays because of the marketing they do. Marketing is influencing people on their choices, for example, this forum is a marketing tool.
When people don't know what they want, they end up wanting something someone else want them to want...
The future is unavoidable...
