Listen to Adam Beyer stuff and listen to The Delta.

And to be more specific:

Adam Beyer - A + B
The Delta - MJ Error

They are not very different.

you could say that new x-dream stuff sounds like techno with the loop based productions, but, i dont think it encapsulates the attitude of techno at all.
i think that x-dream stuff sounds boring, slow and self indulgent. great dark, cinematic atmospheres though but seeing them live didn't really make me want to dance.
techno is very much about the attitude, wam, bam, thank-you very much, seeya later. i've yet to hear any psy that really brings those techno influences to full effect.
midi miliz are almost there.

well imho, the 'tech' part of tehc-trance means 2 things:

a. mostly the hats/snares are quite similar sounds (samples if u wish), hard and cold and cutting..

b. monotnonious percussion/hats/etc...

well i will contribute to this topic few words....
Techno music nowdays is pretty wide definition ,there is so many different styles, streams and directions of this music that on my opinion could even some of them could not be defined at all or in opposite psy trance could be considered as one of the techno styles too...
TechnoTrance actully its not so good definition for Delta or X Dream...and the both pretty more trance then techno fo sure, except some special tracks offcourse, bu still there is some, monotonic rhythms, drums, percussion ,atmosphere which used in techno tracks as its basis, and same for usual psy trance and any other techno style.
The Best is not to stick labels on music and just judge it by content, quality and off course each individual private taste.
