Well there’s something that bothers me for a while. This weird sub genre definition.
Tech Trance. Why is it called Techno Trance?
I’ve been listening besides Psy Trance to Techno for a while, and I can’t find any link between those who claim to produce this Tech Trance music to what I consider (perhaps mistakenly) as Techno. I mean what possibly can resemble Underworld music to Paps’ or Yumade’s music. I mean I like it, I don’t think it’s bad, but what the hell is the connection? Or what’s the connection between Kevin Saunderson/Derrick May or even Laurent Garnier’s music to Delta or X-Dream or anything that labeled as Techno Trance.
The original Techno is happy or at least has positive vibes, unlike music like Paps, Yumade or Snug as a Bug. Which are quite depressing and dark.
I personally find Logic bomb much more Technoish than anything else. It’s bright, positive and uplifting music, like most of Underworld’s music. Perhaps except the paranoia driven “Moaner” track from “Beacoup Fish” Album.
Overall, I think I am missing something. Would you care to enlighten me?

not all techno is positive and happy.. heard once hardcore ??
anyway,tech trance is trance structure (structure of the trak i mean) with tech sounds/loops.. means tech trance have all this techno sounds (machines/guns/shooting/fat bass lines/etc) and trance structures (begining at point a and finish at point b)..
i,myself prefer techno than tech trance.. but a melodic techno..

Yes exactly my point, but the didn't call it Hardcore trance they called it Techno trance.
Hardcore and Gabba pretty much differs Techno.
And melodic techno rules!

Try to hear Techno more of the side of Chris Liebing and Glenn Wilson and you will be hear the monotone and than listing to X-Dream or PPS Project and than realize that this kind of music try to get out as a Technoish and Trance style more that psy like Logic Bomb !
Logic Bomb for example they have happy with darbukot and the techno style is more drilling and killer than this kind of sound of happyness.

u hear the same loops come again and again at tech trance trax ?? so its tech trance.. u hear same things and every time litlle new thing come in.. u hear tech trance.. u hear pretty full sound (not full on) with alot metallic parts ?? u hear tech trance.. etc,etc..

Underworld is not really techno you know. It's much more Big Beat than Techno.
Anyway, remember, Techno has its own subgenres, just like psy trance...
anyway, I guess Eli's definition sums it up pretty good.

i guess is a little in our ears...
techno is mostly characterized by the monotony, as well said...
so whatever keeps a monotony is some kind of loops or sounds like techno, is techno..
but as i said, it depends on which sounds does one characterize as techno...
for me for example, rythme and drum loops in charasmatix tracks are techno based... but they are not monotonous..not at all...
am i right or wrong... i guess both...

Try listenning to Adam beyer's old stuff and then to some Delta tracks and u'll see there's almost no difference.
Tech-trance is very much similar to hardcore techno.
Laurent Garnier is light techno, so of course u won't find any ressemblance.

Laurent is known as best House Dj and priducer in France . Try listen his stuf , there is nothing similar with techno !
well Adam Beyer - thats techno
and actually i cannot find any connection between techno and tech-trance as you say Space Ninja . The point is that techtrance is called that way because of the simmilar style of producing the tracks. Well techtrance tracks are made by using filters and blablabla ... (i am not so close with music making) yeah techno stuff is maded by the same way ... BUT ... there is nothing so close between the techtrance and techno then the way producers made their tracks .
I have never heard a trance track (even techtrance) that sounds so close with techno stuff.
just tell me again : whats the similar between X-dream , Shiva Chandra , PPS , Yumade and etc. and techno stuff like Gaetek ( techno producer from Milano-Italy) , Carl Craig (Detroid) , Devilfish - Sweden , Joey Beltram and so on ...

i know nothing about techno but i know many techno people the connect and like Spirallianz (even less open-minded people)
maybe they see a connection and like it not as a part of trance, they like it as a part of the techno scene.
