wow, where to begin?

Ok, I'll try to summarize it all real short-like

we arrived late on Thursday night , looking for our bongalow. the music was pumping already, and we realized, too late, as it were, that we've missed Sub6's set, which was a big dissapointment to me. Candy's report of the first night's music is quite correct. very fullonish, very fast, very aggressive music. astrix gave a fairly decent set, not lapsing to the conventional, and even i enjoyed it.
the next day we woke up to a hellishly hot day, and decided to go to the beach. there lay strewen about the remains of last night's armageddon - ciggarette butts, crushed cans and plastic glasses and nylon baggies.. shame. damn shame. achziv is one of the most heavenly places in israel, and the following morning it was simply dirty. even the crystal clear ocean had garbage in it.
i stayed up while nikmat hatraktor were getting ready to preform, while pol and his GF went to bed. meanwhile, i cought a good nap at the poolside. when the show was over (terrific preformance by danny makov), the stage was already set for star sound orchestra. now, many say it was one long headache. i put it to you - you need to open your mind. true, as yaniv from bionics told me, they were a bit off, but they were a hell of a lot better than the guys playing the previous day, most of which i don't even know. by the time SSO finished playing, i was exauhsted. i hung to hear obyx and ptx, and than i stayed for another hour for logic bomb's live set, and than crashed at our bungalow. i woke up to the sounds of James Monroe and hurried to the pool to catch it. the guy is a Genius! and combine the music he played with the cool pool water and the beautiful ladies and you got one lean, mean dancing machine!

all in all, i had fun, other than a few minor incidents with security (one bottle of water per person in mid-august summer? get realistic!!!) it was great.

so, to sum things up:

Location: beautifull, ancient Phenician buildings, on top of a bleach-white sand and a riveting blue ocean (which was a bit sullied on a friday morning).

Production: the best i've seen so far in israel. everything was clicking and ticking and there were no hitches what so ever, except that minor incident with security and the 45 minute sound check for nikmat hatraktor...

sound: loads of Turbosound systems were littered on the main stage and the sun-stage. perfect for trance, not so good for rock and reggae...

crowd: perfectly mixed. there were no fights i could see, no one was giving the "eye" to anyone. it was all very peacefull and relaxed. as per the stealing, i heard nothing about it, but if candy said it happened, i'll take her word for it. our bungalow remaind untouched.

Music: bad bad bad on the first day, with a few glimpses of geniuses (silicon sound's finishing touches, mainly the last track, and astrix's choice of music), great great great on the second day. Onyx and Ptx gave one Hell of a set after sso and held their own ground valiantly. i can't really judge on LB or Bamoo Forest's preformances, cause i was passed out. Monroe is a genius. did i mention that?

all in all: a high-end production, with a few small glitches, nothing fatal. good music, a fine selection of chill zones, a choice between a cool pool and a wide beach, grassy knolls, a b-ball court, reasonable prices on most drinks and foodstuffs, though the coupones were a real pain (...), but it was HOT! no air conditioned locations to mention. nightmarish heat and humidity....

so, to sum things up, SSF was quite a success, though not too many ppl showed up eventually, so, commercial though it was, it was not a commercial success.           "We Do Not Allways See Things As They Are. We See Things As We Are" -Ancient Chinese Proverb

major incident..

during star sound's show, two security men (they looked like taken straight from "ZINZANA"..) came and stared me..

well, i've stared them back. "where is your bracelet? (TSAMID..)"

"well, i throwed it away. it was itching.."

"we ask you to leave" (a "friendly hand" on my shoulder).
"man, are you crazy?".. then we went on arguing for few minutes. at the end they said to me to go to the gates and talk with the ticeckting office..
well, as i got to there and started to say i have throwed my bracelet and i need a new one, the place owner that was managing everything there started to scream "TAKE HIM OUT!"

my friend which still had his bracelet tried to explain we got in togheter and we both payed and then the place owner screamed "TAKE HIM OUT TOO!" and the security man tried to tear his bracelet and throw us both out.

i must mention that if they had success of throwing us out we would found ourself in middle of nowhere, without our bag, shoes, etc in 2:30 am..

very fortunately, while unviolently resisting their pushings we started to tell them we are soldiers, and that we came straight from our base etc.. (all true..) "FROM WHERE R U IN THE ARMY?" "the navy, SHAYETET 3".. well.. this was the magic word. after they went to our bag and saw the red "TEUDOT LOHEM" they let us in again and i even got a new bracelet.

this was the first time in my life i got something positive from being a soldier in this miltaristic land

well, what we should learn from this story?
when you r going to a commercialized event manged like a hungry money monster, always keep your bracelet.
and kravi ze hahi ahi (nooo!)

btw, did u notice they had in the entrance a "HAPAK".
think about it
FRONT COMMAND ROOM, in a psy-trance party. peace, love and stuff.

this is a crazy country.
