Am I the only one who noticed that most psytrance is accompanied by really retard and unintelligent texts?
I'll ignore the bad english - for most people it's not their first language. But the stupidity! Everything is so spiritual bullshit. I don't have any examples here, but it's not really hard to find.
Some things off my memory: "The vibations of the strings in cosmic space make the healing therapy of the music blah blah blah" WTF!!!!!! What is this crap?

Seriously, something I really feel embarrased to read this and be part of this scene...

LOL, I guess you're not much of a hippy. Basically i dont have any opinion on the topic itself, but i cant see what harm spirituality could possibly do. Infact, i believe that lack of spirituality is causing many problems in the world.
If you want to find out why this scene contains so much hippie ideology you need to study its roots.
If you feel embarrased you can always go to the house club or just turn on the MTV.
Anyhow, i understand you're point, too much is always too much, but in my opinion psyscene is not even nearly as spiritual as it used to be and as it seems to be nowadays. So not to worry, bring out you're bling bling and join the party.

i have no problem with hippies - i actually think it's cool.
but then there is a difference between "practice yoga for relaxation" and "the ohm baba shiva of the swirling colors in the galaxy makes our legs vibrate with the bassline". you know what i mean? it's ok as long as it's not bullshit, and it is actually many times.

don't worry - mtv makes me even more embarrased. i'm not going there

Spirituality is not how you describe it and what fluffy words you use to sell your rubbish product in online cd-store. Spirituality is what you feel within and towards the universe and those arround you. Spirituality doesn't start with a chillum and the acid soaked square paper. If there's something that i learnt from dealing with hippies in festivals in Europe is that empty vessels make the most noise.

No rant in the first place. Gotta agree, although that rubbish is a reflection of something spiritual that is related to psy. Whether its real or no is another question and, as pointed out above, is an individual choice or mindset. Thats simply the way it is with spirituality in this case, even though it might have been commercialized largely.
What comes to hippies i like much of hippie ideology, grew up with that (i know, luckily we have sort of AA for hippie related teens), but i find it also funny and in many ways amusing. In the end there are just as many individuals as there are hippies (actually quite much more if you include the rest of the population). About empty vessels nor full ones i dont have any opinion.

i get what mike a is saying. he is not talking about the hippy culture as a whole, he is hinting more towards how people, sometimes promoters, just land up connecting this culture with the music in ways that dont make much sense. like the spiritual vibes moves our souls to dance to rhythm of shiva. just an example that came off the top of my head. i wouldnt really give too much attention to such promo write ups. all that really matters in my opinion is the music, and how we percieve it.

yeah i totally agree with mike A on that one... been thinking the same thing many many times...

some labels have better promo text (oxygen comes to mind) but most have this pseudo spiritual garbage that doesn't really explain anything about the music imo...
the worst is when an album is described as being groundbreaking when it is just another copy cat full-on cd...

I wouldn't to promo texts that promise me the moon and insist on the fact that the "artists" are major figures, or will revolutionate the style, or are the defenders of the true real pure oundaground.. I mean just cut the crap and give me good music ! If it really is, then you don't need to embroider like that.

I second that....

Why bother about crappy text if the content i.e. Music is good.....           We were born naked & grow up to become wicked.

You forgot the many many horrible kilarghhhhh releases with their kilarghhhh promotion texts and bad language skills promising people the next big Mozart with kilarghhhhhh production.

I am not sure what's worse. The pseudo hippie Bull or the Kilarghhhh nonsense.

The low level of promotion usually follow the level of the music quality.

Don't worry mike, contrary to what ppl might believe, lies do show in the end.
Shit floats.
There are enough examples in the trance swamp.
