I already got tubes in the massive passive

After the bax, I think i will go towards something like the new Gyraf G21, it's frequency targeted clipping should replace my dynamic EQ at reducing poky snares/kick without affecting the others parts !           http://www.storm-mastering.com

that new gyraf does look crazy, would love a demo on that thing, as it's so unique.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

same here , really intrested into the g21 how much it is? around 3000 if i remember ?

even with the mp you could go for a vari mu like the phoenix to complement a vca compressor ! would be must have for me if i had the cash.
for me i would go phoenix master and use tdr or dc8c with it before getting a vca to complement/replace the plugs

And for your question, the titans are really great.

Very smooth (feedback compression) but still can be very punchy. They can really be very transparent, and just push details and excitement.

Not at all the same compression as VCA feed forward (ssl style) compression.

Really cool to give life !

You can also use it with good amount of GR (like 8-10 dB) to really push the kick and snares transients, and then blend it with the parallel mix control, just to get the desired punch.

xoC thanks for the description !

and what about the color pots? do you find these usefull?

checking the manual..seems great.

wonder how it compare to distressors as this thing seems way more flexible in the color departement it could maybe be a replacement for my needs..

not tried them, but pretty sure the titans would be way more flexible than distressors, and i don't know anyone using distressors for mastering. PoM you want mastering comps, or tracking/bus comps?           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

best would be that i can use for tracking/mixing and later for mastering .

wounder if the foote would be suited? i guess it could ,also the titan.. was also thinking to the api2500 but afraid the color make it less versatile for electronic music mastering...might still keep the distressor for more flavor when tracking /mixing would probably regret later to sell it..

i haven t made any choice, but it s either i sell the distressor and buy something in the 3000 range or keep it and buy something in the 2000 range, i need stereo and if it s good for mastering it s a plus..will investigate more not in a hurry but look like the titans and foote could be good option? specially intrested into the foote ps3 bus as the price is lower, also stronger ratio than the ME, bigger treshold range...

ps3 no mix knob, titan no sidechain filter

wonder if the lack of sidechain filter make it problematic for bass heavy tracks

titan doesn't need a sidechain filter, as it has the "fat/normal/air" switch, which basically acts in a very similar way. lots of people moaning about this (no SC), but lots of people who have them say it's totally not needed! if you were gonna use a high pass side chain, just engage the "fat" switch instead.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

you could easily route a parallel bus in your mixer with the ps3 too.           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

Impossible to find rack ears for the NL1 rack + Slim Phatty rack ears, cost double than the laptop stand I used to complete the studio rack.

Lots more space to move the chair now!

good to know ,that fat switch is probably similar to the thrust on the api, maybe some kind of sidechain filtering trick.

apparently it's a complex digital algorithm that is not just a regular HPF in the side chain. the joys of analogue/digital hybrid gear, and dave hill excels at that. the original trakkers were digital PWM detectors controlling the analogue gain reduction. insane stuff!           http://hermetechmastering.com : http://www.discogs.com/artist/Gregg+Janman : http://soundcloud.com/babaluma

Mine, getting more band oriented
