largo zebra massive you can cover lot of virus sound, not exalcty the same but with extra processing it s in the same league imo.
i tried to match some virus sounds with zebra to the point it s not possible to tell who is who but it thought half of my cpu with processing and fx . |

Synapse Audio Dune, Sonic Academy Ana and Diversion are pretty similar and in some areas better than the Virus. |

Me too.
Just wish my computer could handle it.
But those filters are very very nice, and just great for all your Psychedelic needs
Edit: just saw they released a freeware fx plugin which you could obtain by buying some magazine.

Well... before Akustix i loved tone2/s stuff, akustix has a great GUI but it's absolutely not suitable for mastering or for the purposes it was designed for.

Sorry to hear that. I was actually thinking about checking it out, but reading your post had a bit of a dissuading effect. Is Akustix useful for anything at all, then, and if so for what?

i personaly dont like any of the sound that came from the tone 2 plugins, i think their plugins sound way too digital...
they can deliver nice modern sintesis , by creating some inovating and original textures, but never with colour IMO, they allways sound cold, flat and with lack of caracter, ofcourse you can manipulate them and try to use other processings in order to bring sound to life, but they will sound allways digital...
and this not about sound convertion and the fact of being a virtual plugin, its the sound it self, is digital as hell, like vanguard sound shit also... i remeber some years ago everyone was using vanguard, you could spot vanguard presets everywhere in releases and psytrance music, but digital is plastic, is cold, its cheap, its cheasy some times...
personaly i think that a free plugin like Synth1, wich is free and have tones of presets online for free, is much better than any of this crap from tone2, if used properly you will have much better sound with much more caracter that this...
but this is how i think, i would like to have a ms-20 from korg with all the features of integration as virus, and maybe a roland jupiter too... because thouse are the types of hardware synth that make a really funky crazy sound... virus sound great, but there is many plugins who sound close this days... but when it comes to old schol synthsizers i dont see anything to sound like thous, theres something really magical on thouse machines and that is what make them sound great, make us love the music and ear it again, pay atention to all detail, the sound have detail its never just plain and repetitive, its unique... |
