i second those 2tone plugs sound very artificial, at least to my ears. as if all the sounds were already squashed by (overly hyped) mastering. digital with cold touch. benefit is they sit nice in the mix and for distorted stuff its ok as you want it to be pushing through, but i do not like their general tone at all.           http://www.ektoplazm.com/free-music/stereofeld-frequenzwechsel

The Virus TI sounds very artificial. By the way I heard a friend's Virus C and that sounds a lot more raw and real than the TI....which is so expensive is supposed to be the best sounding Virus...even if I use the TI's converters and record like you would with any hardware synth....but man I am thinking about a Virus C, B, Classic...I was surprised to find out that it just sounds much better...

Peace.

I actually liked ElectraX and found it to be quite useful for some sounds.... Sure it's digital sounding, but I also have other synths that cover the analog sounding aspect that I want. I'd say that I like it more than I like Gladiator, and I actually have a lot of respect for Tone2's work. Thanks for the information Nectarios!           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Something about their gui just doesnt jive with me. Feels cluttery/messy.            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

that's no surprise for me. new mackies sound worse than the old. new dynaudios sound worse then the old. the new jbls sound worse then the old classics. modern technology, due to different reasons, sometimes kills the soul of devices.
in early 90s everyone wanted digital synths. now we are going back to analog because digital just dont sound as good as analog (maybe there are some exceptions, but still).

nord 1 and virus a ftw

a friend have the virus A and he love it, would love to compare the sound of all the virus line . the Ti seems the one that sound the closest to "plugin" from what i have read from guys with experience with other virus .
what nectarios describe i already heard it from a guy switching from the C to the TI but so much more feature on the Ti.

the converters get cleaner ,more transparent mean closer to plugin it s probably one of the reasons...it also make me think to something i never tried cause to lazy but with converters that are not transparent but flatering a ad/da pass for all plugins would enhance the sound of the mix good times.. even low end converters like the echo mia i had or maybe even audiofire can probably color in a nice way, sweeten the highs, give some depth, smooth digital transients.. it s sure something you dont want when recording great source or monitoring.. but with plugins it could be just the ticket to give them a more real sound...

that would be a intresting test to make and compare to the same tune wihtouth any ad/da pass...if one have tune 100% made in plugins maybe he could send me a few bars in stem i could run them in my soundcard ad/da that i think have a very musical sound and good depth, if it dont add anyhting then converters are bullshit in synth sound .

i have read some akai sampler work great for this, i think S1000 /S3000 even driving them a little
